Yeah, and rode their D there too. Things have turned out pretty well for him though. He's one of the best QB's in the NFL, so I guess Flacco is on the right track -- a track Pennington will never be on.

And Rex Grossman helped guide him team to the Super Bowl. I think the kid gets more talk than he's deserves at this point.

Hey I ain't gonna take anything away from Flacco. Jury is still out on just how good he is gonna be.

Steelers/Ravens gonna rule this division for the next few years.

Grossman sucks (after he's had a chance to show something AFTER his run with the bears) I remember a lot of people wanting to take flacco in the draft last year, ON THIS BOARD:rofl:

So you're ragging on a rookie QB who lead his team to 2 playoff wins. Which had never been done in the history of the NFL. And he looked bad against the top rated defense in the league. The Steelers had the #1 pass defense and second most sacks at 51. Oh, and the #2 rushing defense. Those kind of rankings will make most QB look pretty rough.

Try putting your comments in perspective. The kid did amazingly well to get his team this far. And he will likely improve by leaps and bounds as he gets more experience. Flacco has all of the physical tools and the steely demeanor to succeed at a high level in the NFL.

I'm not ragging on him. The point is that his defense carried him. The Ravens' offense was designed to prevent him from throwing any games, so naturally he played respectably conservative. I don't think he should get credit for that. If you watched him play and look at his numbers, you'll see Flacco hardly did anything all season.

I think the Pennington weak arm meme has been distorted to some ridiculous levels. Yeah, he's not a cannon armed player or anything, but it's gotten taken to the point where you'd think he was a cripple. I watched the Dolphins playoff game. I saw him make some strong throws, and I saw him make some mistakes under pressure that led to interceptions. It's really not so cut and dry.

Hmmm. a rookie QB leads his team to the AFC Championship game, yet a douchebag vet chokes away the Jets season.

Not f-ing up is doing something.

Over the last two months of the season (when the Ravens were fighting for a playoff spot), Flacco threw 11 TD and only 5 INT. And he only lost 1 fumble. That's pretty good for a rookie.

Flacco played well this season, but he simply cannot be asked to make plays and actually BEAT the Pittsburgh Steelers, a monster of a defense and without a doubt the very best.

It's funny, we see Kurt Warner back up Eli Manning and now he's back as a starting superbowl QB. There is no simple answer or solution, which makes me start thinking man screw it let's just go with Clemens or Ratty and hope our prayers are answered, ha..

The fact that you didn't think Ben had a good game is very telling. Ben was doing what he always does, regardless of the quality of the defense he was making game changing plays. He is not a stat monkey he is a playmaker and is consistently under rated. The guy is a beast and was great yesterday. Flacco was at least going down field with the ball and he is a rookie playing on the road. The reality is if Chad doesn't shit the bed against Baltimore Miami would have been right in the game and had Flacco been forced to win that game as a rookie you may have had another result. Since Chad sucked and played like a rookie at home in his 4th trip to the playoffs, Flacco never had the pressure to win put on him until yesterday in a hostile environment.

Flacco, like Ben is going to be a playmaker at QB, he is still a rookie and held together for most of the game unlike the veteran Chad who outright shit the bed.

I really thought you were against getting Favre to start a young QB but it's apparent it was Chad love all along which is why I loved getting Favre. Move on or die.

while watching that game yesterday, I felt that the Ravens needed to game plan offensively better for the steelers. They kept there normal offense of trying to push the ball down field. I felt that with the effectiveness of the steelers rush, coupled with the awesomeness of their secondary, the ravens needed to, how you say........ dink and dunk their way down the field :)

a west coast style offense would have suited them a lot better, sorta the same way arizona countered the eagles onslaught with short passes and YAC. Flacco kept trying to go down field as all the patterns took the receivers down field.

Flacco as a rookie had a bad game against a top defense.

Favre as a future HOFer had awful games against mediocre defenses.

Chad as a vet and league MVP canidate had a god awful mess of a playoff game against a top defense.

Every QB at any stage of his career can put up a stinker. I'm ready to live with the growing pains of a young stud QB as opposed to the awful play of some of the vets we've had lately.

Pennington would have taken his team just as far if a certain kicker wouldn't have messed everything up against the same team Flacco lost to

i seem to believe roethlisberger getting completely destroyed in both his first playoff games, and now he is currently going for his second superbowl championship.

he also got destroyed in that game. In the end it's Brien's fault, but it might have helped if pennington could have moved to ball. Like pennington's lack of arm strength always has and always will do him in late in the season when it's cold.
