What are "actual" rankings? I still don't know where you got your rankings from. What are they based on?
We werent the worst offense last year with pretty much those same players. We added Leveon Bell and Crowder to boot. I for one have been talking about how bad the offensive line for years but even I expected better results from this offense. Miami has literally no one of even near average ability on their offensive line once the traded Tunsil and still managed to produce more than us. We were sold on this concept that Gase could help the offense and Darnold, I have yet to see 1 piece of evidence that we are improving in these areas (wins and losses isnt the same as offensive improvement). Since Gase isnt going anywhere anyway, I fully expect next season to be a disaster too. It seems apparent that Douglas will address the offensive line in some fashion and if Gase cant get the offensive out of the bottom 5 again then we'd be stupid to keep him around.
True story. Gonna be an amusing year next year. Fitzmagic might get to teach the next Geno Smith how to get punched while taking the phins on his magic ride. Playoffs for Miami.
If the Jets add 2-3 new offensive linemen this off-season and add 1-2 contributors at skill positions to replace Robby and Enunwa, the offense can be functional. Sam will thrive if given time to make his reads/escape the pocket and make throws on the run. He's a schoolyard QB, he's at his best when he can escape the pocket once the play breaks down. The key will be to continue to add depth to the OL and find an elite skill player on the outside to elevate Darnold's play, something they can do over the next one or two off-seasons if the OL is built.
After the Falk fiasco, I was ready to see Gase to the door. But I can't deny that there was improvement in the second half of the season regardless of who we were playing. First half of the season 96 points (12 ppg) 1788 yards (223.5 ypg) Second half of the season 180 points (22.5 ppg) 2580 yards (322.5 ypg) Almost double the points and nearly 800 more yards. That's pretty significant considering what we were looking at early on.
What teams were we better than on paper even BEFORE injury that we should be thumbing our nose at? With THAT O line we won 7 games?! W.o a single X receiver & a bunch of #5 corners. Lol i mean im not doing backflips & know we are in the thick of a rebuild but lets be alittle objective here. You are what your record says you are or so ive been told a zillion times on TGG
You may have been told it a zillion times on TGG but never from me. And I'm not thumbing my nose at any of those teams. What I am saying is if we played a typical schedule over the last 8 games, we wouldn't have come near 6-2.
Problem is we could do all this and get it 100% right but we're still stuck with Gase. Next year we're playing a lot of good teams from this year and Gase has given us no indication that he's going to be able to out coach anyone
Weak schedule is why and Buffalo were not playing their first team. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I'd respect not starting 1-7 even more. I'm more or less happy with the finish but I refuse to laud a 7-9 record a 1-7 start should never happen.
I agree and I dont care for the play calling and we IMO were handed 2 games. But until the talent goes up on offense we can't really havea huge case against Gase. I can say I think Williams did more for this team with less. But as of now Gase is here at least 8 games regardless.
But when you have a bottom 3 roster BEFORE injury what constitutes a weak schedule? Pretty much EVERY team we faced was better than us on paper.
