The sky is the limit for Al Bundy too. Sign this beast. They don't want to play the kids? Let's get an veteran with proven experience. 4 touchdowns in one single game. Just what the doctor ordered.
Yep. That tendency developed when Penn State's o line was swiss cheese and Hackenberg was getting sacked a ridiculous amount. That's why confidence, and reverting to the mechanics that worked for him are the most important things.
People see Dak and a bunch of other rookies starting and say why can't Hack? It's hard to not get upset, but we also have to understand that the Front Office and Coaches had 0 intention of having Hack play this year. We have to be patient but I would at least like him to get more practice reps than the scout team reps he's currently receiving. Either ways, the earliest we see Hack play meaningful football is 2017 and that's if the Jets don't have and chase an old veteran QB.
I think the front office saw the o line as solid enough with the addition of Clady, but two big holes remain and thats LT because Clady will not be on this team next season and Giacomini is trash at RT. Have to sure up the OL if we want Hack to succeed. Can't have him developing happy feet and reverting to bad mechanics
so gailey says the skys the limit tgg says the sky is falling sounds like we should be on the same level shortly
The FO is incompetent then. Clady is a glass doll and Giacoshit was due $5 million. Nearly everyone wanted him cut. When this team could have improved the OL they neglected it. They just rolled the dice and ignored it by trading draft picks for Clady and Shell..
I don't think we will see Hack at all. As bad as the season has been either Petty and Hack should have seen more playing time. Handling these QB like toddlers is another problem. That game plan Gailey called against the Rams for Petty was pathetic. Franklin was onto something at Penn State as evident by the QB play he's gotten this year. I know people were blaming him for stifling Hack's progress but he didn't adjust in 2 years and I doubt he'll make any more adjustments as a pro. We are screwed at QB unless we make a splash in the offseason. I wouldn't be opposed to drafting another QB.
I agree. Back in the day some QB's held a clipboard for 3 years. Most got thrown in right away and they had to figure it out. There were so many great QB's. Like Stabler, Staubach, Bert Jones, Elways, Marino, Bradshaw, Dawson. Every game had two studs at QB going head to head.
Great post. I watched Petty alot in college and wanted the Jets to draft him. I saw all of the things you mentioned above and its spot on. Petty could be that guy for the Jets. Hack was the one guy I didn't want the Jets to draft. Well actually the 2nd guy in the draft I didn't want. Didn't like the Lee pick either. Hack has bad mechanics and those usually don't get fixed. I also think he psyche is shot from all the sacks he took. You take alot of sacks in college you probably pre loaded that the pro's will sack you even more. So I think he will always be shellshocked. Just not impressed with Hack and hope we draft anoter QB this year and he can push Hack to 3rd string or off the roster.
Think it's premature to say that. I also think that Franklin tried to make a QB who had established mechanics and was running a pro offense try to change what he's good at. You can't fit a square into a circle. Hack was never going to be the kind of QB to succeed under Franklin. Also, Franklin is very much into recruiting. I credit their good season to his ability to recruit players that fit his scheme. Hack was not that. He never looked comfortable playing under Franklin. He alluded to that in the gruden QB camp when he said he had to switch his mechanics up under Franklin
The thing that gives me hope for Hack is how consistently he goes through multiple reads in a play. You hardly ever see it with college QBs these days, or even with most NFL QBs (probably a correlation there). Goff, Mariota and Hack are the 2 guys in these last couple drafts that consistently pop from read to read like it's nothing. Just teach the guy to throw.
