Ok - let me pull a little junc here. Who cares? The game had no stake for either team. No reason for Dolphins to try hard. Maybe they were more concerned with their draft status than 1 more measly win. My point is - 2nd half of the season only becomes relevant if you had a good enough of 1st half, to aim at the postseason. How did GeNO do during these first half? Yeah. Pitiful to put it as nicely as I could. After the gimme game at Oakland, Jets lost 8 straight - most of them due to GeNO playing like a fucking ASS. Ok - 2 of them, defense folded. That's about it. The other 6? GeNO at his usual pathetic self. Seriously, when Bills and Dolphins had something to play for [namely, playoff] Jets LOST to them all.
The bottom line is that this is a team sport. Of course he contributed but there are other aspects of the team that contributed to the losing to just simply say that it was mostly on him.

He'll get his opportunity to prove that this Miami game was a sign of things to come. Doubt he'll start this year, but he'll have certainly be given a chance to.
And maybe the Dolphins and Jets cared. You don't care. And that's fine because, let's face it, you're not much of a fan, but the team cared. And just because it doesn't track with your agenda doesn't mean that the Dolphins wanted to get their asses kicked by Geno Smith. Grow up!! Stupid opinions like "the opponents didn't care about winning" really diminishes the discussion and shows how you will say anything to support a flawed opinion. As Herm said, "you play to WIN the game!!"
That week 8 game vs the Bills should count as 10 horrible games. Maybe the worst game in NFL history.
i agree with everything except the odds being against him right now. my reasoning is that 1)fitz wont be ready til camp, and will most likely have some rust. so he wont challenge him right away. also, hes on a one year deal so hes not really a threat as far as the future goes. 2) i cant honestly believe that petty will beat him for the job yet. hes just too raw. dont get me wrong, he seems like a sharp kid and looks like he will learn fast, but i cant see him 100% beating out an incumbent qb. what he doesnt have anymore, at least on paper, is an excuse. the last two years it was easy to say hes gotten a raw deal. no talent on o. a coach who doesnt know 2 things about running an offense. bad OC. etc. now he has a revamped wr core, a stable of good rb's coming into camp, and new coaching staff, with an OC that should be able to help open up the offense for him. based on all this, i see it as put up or shut up time for geno. hes got the advantages now as far as the team around him, and hes dealt with turmoil the last few years. now you prove youre worth it as a qb in the nfl
So you didn't read the disclaimer above then. I said [I am pulling a little junc.] As in - Colts tanked the season to draft Luck - junc. If tanking a full season can make sense, tanking ONE game surely can fall in the realm of possibility, no?
