Well, if it's being said by the muse that is Craig Carton I simply must defer to his expertise. The Giants use the facility and have for the last few years, so I don't know how long the chance for other teams to use it is. And again, could the Dolphins have not found another training facility in the area? You act like this is the only practice field in the tri-state area.
So the Giants have to run how they use their practice facilities by the Jets now? Think about this from their point of view for a second.
no they did not. they let the dolphins use the practice facility the giants own. the timex branded bubble west of the stadium on route 3. the facility that has no ties to the jets, and thus no legal ramifications, as FGF is pointing out. the arguement of "we will do the same" is fine and dandy, until you think of geography. really its a nonissue.
I'm with you on this one, but I think it's crazy for either of us to think we're going to be in anything but the minority here.
Jerrah Jones will build them their own practice facility just for that one week. He's good like that.
*Yawn* Why are some of you so concerned about what would happen if this was the Jets? This is about the farthest thing from a big deal that I can think of yet Jets fans and the need to be the victim just can't help themselves.
exactly. in this "story" its the details that make a huge difference. had it been the stadium, yeah... i'm sure the Jets would've had a problem with that, since you know.. they co own it and i would've been peeved too. not that that part affects anyone but me... but yeah. not really an issue
If it's no big deal than it wouldn't be a big deal for the Jets to offer the same conditions to the Giants division rivals.
Rex said in his press conference he isn't "officially mad at the Giants" and when asked if he would do the same he said "I don't want anyone but us in our facility"
great, i'm sure al the other NFCE teams would love our florham park facility. not sure how that screws with the giants, but then again, not sure how letting a team practice in a bubble branded with timex screws the jets so.
There is so much misinformation in this post. The part I was replying to everyone was still saying they were practicing in our stadium. I still have never heard of other teams allowing use of their facilities to teams before. Doesn't make any sense to me and if it was no big deal then why didn't they tell them to use one of the other numerous facilities in the area.
nfl.com linked me to this: http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2010/12/dolphins-to-hit-road-early-this-week.html they don't have access to the stadium. now i'm no legal eagle, but i'm pretty sure the jets would have to ok that (the stadium part of the discussion) as they co own it. its just hte practice field the g-men own. edit: a nypost article if that's more your steelo. http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/giantsblog/giants_will_let_dolphins_borrow_fSWGumfGM1QJeVnnCzJ3MP as per the author, "No, it’s not a big deal at all." i'm in agreement.
Giants can do whatever they want with their facilities, but it's strange that they would allow a competing team in their league to use them. Would they let the Cowboys or Eagles train there? No chance in hell, for the same reason the Jets wouldn't. Giants should give that some consideration only because they collaborated on building the new meadowlands where they both play. By doing this it sends a clear message, we don't give a fuck about you and if we can doing anything to hurt your chances we will.
Yup no big deal. Letting them fly up a day early from that 80 degree Miami weather to get acclimated to the 40 degree NY weather..nothing to see here.
