if RG3 doesn't get offered a starting gig somewhere and is in the backup pool it's entirely possible.

He wants to start and he'll sign with a team that gives him an opportunity to start or at least compete for the job. Houston is a team I could see RG3 playing for.

Of course Bobby Griffin wants to start. Signing with the Jets means he'd be a starting QB in the largest sports mecca on the planet in 1-2 seasons (maybe sooner if 'Ol Man Fitz blows a tire).

That being said, I don't think the Jets should pursue Bobby. To stay healthy (16 games) he'd have to abandon a big part of his game (scrambling and designed QB run plays). He's no Cam Newton and he's too frail to take the pounding a running QB must take. That means he'd have to develop a pocket passing game (not his strength). When all's said and done, his pocket passing game 'might' end up about as good as Geno Smith's.

    I'll pass.

This dude gets hurt when a slight breeze picks up. Plus I can easily see him going to the Cowboys. They collect broken QBS like stamps.

I'll take Baylor QB Bryce Petty over him

Geno isn't going anywhere. He's making pennies and we need a backup QB since I don't believe Petty will be ready by next season. Yes, everyone hates Geno but he's still adequate as a backup and with Fitz' injury history, it's important to have a QB who knows the system and can step right in ala the Oakland game.

It's the offseason and people are still talking about Geno. People love to bash the Geno-supporters but it's always the Anti-Geno folks who bring him up for discussion first.

Grammar and vocabulary lesson of the day:
Loose = When something is not tight ("these handcuffs are too loose")
Lose = To not win ("Go ahead and jump - you've got nothing to lose")

Someone is going to take a chance on RGIII, but I doubt it will be us. Geno is still under contract for another year for cheap and RGIII won't sign for less than what Geno is making (about $600K). We can argue whether RGIII has a higher ceiling than Geno, but even if you see RGIII as an injury-prone improvement, we can't afford to spend more on a backup QB given our current cap issues.

Really people? You would rather have RG3 over Geno? He a better pocket QB then Geno? I guess your hate for Geno clouds your thinking about RG3. RG3 knock on him is he not a pocket passer. Plus his ego so big his teammates in Washington don't like him because of it.

If the price is right I would be all for making a move to acquire RG3.

He's a great fit in our system and he got a bad deal in Washington.

Yeah, I think I would just stick with Geno in this case. RG3 had one of the more overrated rookie seasons in NFL history.

Unless he can get a starting job it would make sense for a guy like him to go somewhere where he thinks he can possibly win the job and usurp the incumbent.

Fitz is coming off a career year, but he's not a franchise QB.

Shanahan let him play that WC game when he really shouldn't have been out there. He was hurt worse than Washington was letting on. You don't let a top pick in the draft go out there and play hurt like that. Especially with the investment the Redskins made in him. Shanahan should have been fired after that WC loss. Unacceptable.

This what I don't get.. Geno been in this league 3 years and RG3 5 years and people think RG all of a sudden is good. Plus RG always had weapons around him Geno never has.

Well he did win rookie of the year. Again, the reason for that was because the offense they ran was as simplistic as possible. Screens, 1 reads, option offense. RG3 had success, but he's also made of glass.

I would pass completely. I don't think RG3 is good by any means.

Yes he did. But that pastol offense was new and a few QB ran it that and was good at it. But once the NFL D's got a year of tape on it.. How are they doing now? Wilson the only one who still a good QB.
