I'm hoping he's on the roster this year or next. There's no one else to choose but Namath. He is the history of not only of this team, but of the Super Bowl, and two leagues. However, for the purposes of musing, how about Riggins?
I have made the case on TGG that Riggins is the best fullback the Jets ever had, although winston disagrees because so much of his career highlights were with the Skins.
Some would say Namath is the greatest Jet ever simply because he helped us win a SB. Some would say Chrebet simply because he was an undrafted free agent. Some would say Curtis Martin because of his stats and toughness. I think I would lean towards Namath with Martin being a close second.
Chrebet is the best Jet ever. He saved the Jets many times and even though his numbers were not huge he never dropped a pass. I went to the game against the Chargers were Chrebet made his last catch. Like his career his last catch was on third down, not only did he not drop the pass but he was knocked out and still held on to it.
Martin was very talented for a long time, but Joe Namath is what non-Jet fans think when they think Jets.
Chrebet should be on this list. His story is amazing. To me Chrebet is the embodiment of what it is to bleed kelley green. He is a Jet through and through. (I voted for Namath, we all know 28 is a New York legend though.)
Living in NC and talking football, everytime I tell someone I am a Jets fan, they always bring up Joe Namath.
It's tough for me to judge fairly because I never saw Maynard or Namath, but I have to choose Martin. One of the best runningbacks in history, without a doubt.
nobody living today under 50 years of age would not even know who Don Maynard was, without Joe Namath throwing tohim
