What I noticed is (and im not trying to put down Jones because he still finds ways to get it done but..) When Greene cuts he keeps his legs moving foward and changes direction....Jones has a habit of hop stepping nearly every time he cuts, sometimes the hop step works but it hurts him most of the time.....either way they both performed and i cant be happier im a Jets fan so if they wear green and white imma root for them.
But did you notice that everyone on the team went out of their way to congratulate Greene...they were so proud of him, as were the coaches and the staff.
does my new avatar say enough about how much I love the kid? the Raiders where terrible on run D today though so let's see how he fares against a sturdier Dolphins' OL.
kid is a beast he runs hard and a lot more quick on his feet than i thought. I'm looking forward to shonn getting a solid amount of carries next week
I'm just happy he didn't get banged up. I was worried the guy was gonna be an injury problem. Love this guy!!! So far.
7.6 yards per carry. Yes the Raiders suck, but still very impressive. Hope he'll be a playmaker!!!! He thrilled today!
greene didnt accidentally lead the ncaa in rushing, or win the doak walker, he was an elite college rb and only went in the 3rd rd bc of an injury and the low value placed on rbs in the draft, kid is for real for real
yeah that raiders team i dont think was good to judge against. while he played well lets see what he can do against an actual nfl team. i am also interested in the important parts of a rbs game. his blocking.
I liked him before and after we drafted him but thought some people on this board were dickriding him too hard. after today, i understand why. i couldn't really see the tv/projector very well at the sportsbar i was at (fuckin florida) but everytime i saw a super fast burst i was like...who the fuck is that?? thinking it was jones or washington. found out it was greene. the guy bursts to and through the hole unbelievably fast. its awesome to watch. i'm really excited for this guy and the team in that aspect losing washington blows though and makes me want to cry. just because of all he's been through, how consistently great yet humble he's been for this team and how this might affect his contract
I think today just amped up Shonn Greene's confidence by a magnitude. As horrible as it was to see Leon go out with a broken leg today, it was awesome to see Greene come in and run like he really wants it - he looked phenomenal. It seemed like he had TJ feeding off of his fire in the second half. I only hope we can keep this ground game going next week... :jets:
Shonn looked yesterday exactly like what I was expecting from seeing some of the plays he had in college. He has excellent balance, vision, he's very strong, he runs with his pads forward, he punishes tacklers, has great ball security, and does not stop his legs moving. Yesterday, he starting playing his way toward a starting role with the Jets. He has a long way to go with his pass blocking and catching out of the backfield, but I think he will get there.
He's a combination of Jones and Leon, power and speed. He's the reason we are not gonna sign TJ to a new contract. No wonder they traded away mucho picks to move up and get him in the 3rd rd. They had him rated as a first rd. pick. Does our front office know talent or what???
