I thought i was making a fair comment that it is not fair to say use of the term is immature. I mean what, like only adolescents would use the term??? Or that it does not describe anything of substance? I will say this particular off season many of the resident pessimists around here are taking some time off, it seems. So the percentage of blatant pom pom waving seems relatively high. But for example i never call champ a homer.
Like I said, I defended the use of the word homer from your homeristic accusation taht people who use it are immature. And since you FAILED to show why a homeristic website is better in any sense than one you complain is too pessimistic about the Jets, I said you were being homeristic. Because you were.
What the fuck is this shit? I just presented reasons WHY TOJ is a better resource than ESPN / NYDN. I know for a fact now that you came into this topic because the word homer was used. Do I want to read about formations or do I want to know that the #1 event for Jet fans is the freaking buttfumble? That's all the evidence you need to know. When's the last time Cimini mentioned what formations were used by Rex during the course of the season? Or what things do players need to improve on going forward?
You often misuse it yourself as a blanket accusation against people who disagree with you. I don't disagree with what you just wrote here but I think you are way too soon to throw that term out there in a given discussion.

Geez, no need to get all emotional and defensive. I got involved here when you said it is immature to use the term homer, which comment you made actually was aimed at another poster. That comment by you PRECEDED your first attempt at defending your preference for TOJ, which was at post 43. Putting aside whether your justification was persuasive, you lost sight of the fact that my comment was aimed at your characterization of use of the term homer as immature. THAT is why I responded on this thread, not to engage in your discussion comparing writers on the Jets beat. This in fact is merely the latest example of how bad a debater you are, once again losing sight of the issue under discussion, and this time getting all emotional about it.
Meh. Difference of opinion. I find it interesting you would criticize me at the same time you say you agree with me, but that seems to be how you see your role here, I guess.
good grief, I can't wait until the season starts so we can at least bicker about Rex Ryan's decision making instead of this shit
We don't even have to wait until the season starts. Once it is abundantly clear that Vick is the far better QB than Geno, Vick will be inserted into the Special Teams unit in the 4th quarter as the return man and all of his blockers will be wide receivers, cornerbacks, punters and kickers.
It a winning thing. If the Jets had the history the Pats do then this thread never gets started. As soon as the Jets start winning year in and year out a lot of this goes away. So if we are to blame anybody let blame the front offices of the Jets.
Why the problem with Cimini or any of the others? Sometimes there really are ugly babies, even if you guys and their moms don't believe it. Do all you guys buy your clothes the same place the emperor does?
What exactly makes Cimini a 'Jets guy'? longevity? Seems to me he has almost grown an animosity towards the team, and isn't well embraced by the team or it's fans. He's no Jets guy, and he's not average at all. He's a hack, and borders on unprofessional at times (see the Kendrick Ellis draft reaction). What's lame is excepting a hack like Cimini as adequate representation of the largest market in a multi billion dollar industry. Certainly it wouldn't be difficult to find someone more professional, insightful and knowledgeable about the game, who would actually enjoy the job. I'm not familiar with Buffalo's ESPN beat writer, but if New England got him reassigned there, can we get Cimini reassigned to south florida?
I would assume so because he thinks he should be either the GM or owner of the team as he constantly harps on what "he" would do. To him, the Jets are always making the wrong moves.
Ugggh really? I don't know the guy's entire resume but he covered the Jets exclusively for like 15 years at the NYDN before ESPN hired him. He's a lifelong new yorker, has a decent grasp on the history of this franchise and can put it into perspective, etc. Look I'm not here to defend the guy really, I could give a shit about him I'm just saying I'd rather have Cimini who I'd characterize as a Jets guy for the reasons above than some out of town kid fresh out of journalism school that knows nothing about the team and writes nothing but positive articles. Or- as in my Buffalo example, a guy who couldn't hack it covering another team, someone else's rejection. Or- it could be like NFL Network and we could get some former player who can't even talk or write.. as long as he likes the team and is always positive- am I right???
