Is this supposed some sort of sneaky accusation that I have been drinking and lack good judgment? I have not had a drop since last night. Your intelligence does not scare in the least little bit. If you don't like what I posted, and don't think it is a good solution, then how about you don't read it? Or perhaps politeness is not your strong point?

Lighten up Francis. I was just joking. Didn't mean to offend you at all.

Westhoff > Toilet Bowles, but he's a little long in the tooth

I thought westoff retired because of health issues. Don't see him coming back to coaching in any capacity , let alone head coach

Yes Westhoff is going to be 69 going into next year and he has the spirit and fire of someone half his age, but considering his prior health problems (albeit ones not of his doing) his age and health is more of an issue than it would be for say, Coughlin who's even older but for someone that's been in coaching as long as he has, he's never had a health scare and is pretty fit. Even if a guy like Westhoff could coach for 3-4 years it's not like this is a win-now Jets team anyway, or that you'd want a first-time coach on a win-now team if it was.

Would one or two of you "too old" guys please expound a bit on exactly how the guy's birth certificate and/or past health problems might have an effect on how he could perform the job today or beginning in February. Please be specific.

The key is that all of those guys had some success in their previous job. The exception is BB, but there were extenuating circumstances in Cleveland. McCarthy fits that mold best.

However, given the likelihood that we have to go full rebuild sooner or later, I'd be ok with going for another first time HC, but it has to be one from the offensive side of the ball, that has a good track record of developing QBs.

My thoughts exactly. Honestly, what's with all the prejudice against an older candidate? I must say I really thought the guy would get much more support from this fanbase? Instead, we've a whole bunch of malcontents insulting me for merely suggesting a legendary ST's coach in his own right. What about wanting to utilize home grown talent? Isn't Mike Westhoff just that? I mean after all didn't the guy coach here for like 15 years?

I really have no idea what ails Jets fans these days........

BB took the Browns to the playoffs with an 11-5 regular season record.
