Well, it took the league forever to start cracking down of the Donkeys' O-linemen cut blocking on every plays, and it actually took some serious injuries for that to happen. I doubt we hear much from this at all unless it happens to the Steelers or the Pats.
i hope the broncos and colts play in the playoffs. it would take an awful lot of balls to be that obvious with this tactic on a nationally televised game against one of the most popular teams in recent years.
the Jets did get outplayed. The Broncos were beating us up. Why did they have to resort to such tactics to prevent us from getting back into the game? Just play. Don't fake injuries. I wouldn't do that for the simple reason that it is bad karma. Hopefully for Bronco fans it doesn't come back to bite them.
simple answer. it cost us about 7-18 points. 1. 1st and 10 after the screen play down deep in broncos territory. faked injury causes a stop in momentum and an opportunity to get a cheap 5-yard penalty and a free play. after the tv time out, we get 2 passes fall incomplete and a favre fumble so we end up kicking a field goal instead of getting a TD. that would be 4 points. 2. around the 35 of the broncos, can't remember if it was 2nd or 1st down. faked injury, eventually end up with the 3rd and 3 and 4th and 3 that we don't convert. this could have been a TD, but we get nothing. 7 more points right there. 3. after #2 happens, broncos drive down the field against an emotionally drained and less well rested jets defense. they get a TD on 4th and 1. 7 more points right there. no way to really know whether everything happens, but it stopped 2 drives for sure and basically gave them a turnover by not converting on 4th down. it's possible that we get 14 more points and the broncos score 7 less and we eek out a 28-27 win. but there's no way to tell for sure.
It was a very smart move so hey props to Bly for doing it. Yes they are pros but they get paid to win games 1st and that what Bly did. If that was the Jets doing it these same people on here pissed at Bly would be saying that was a great move by the Jets.
Screw that, it's a dick move by anyone who does it, and I would be calling out our CS just like I am calling out Shanahan for it. I'm not blaming Bly, because it seems obvious to me that he was coached to do it. He wasn't the only one to 'pull up lame' when we were rushing to the line, just the only one to admit it. Our no-huddle is difficult to defend with someone like Favre calling them to the line. Was it effective? Yes. Was it respectable? Hell no.
Really? I've seen some good ones from time to time :breakdance: Glad y'all agree. We'll see how it gets done in the off sesason. Ironically this has been done to us on several occasions already.
