Made playoffs, had a better TD-INT ratio, more accurate, better passer rating, better YPA, with a much weaker supporting cast.
it's funny when people say brian hoyer made the playoffs. then you mention the playoff game performance and they want to talk about the teams.
Was his last game really that much worse than Fitzpatrick's? That's what I thought. Of course, Hoyer's bad game came against a playoff team. Fitzpatrick lost to Rex Ryan's Bills, which is a mediocre at best team.
Um yes, yes it was. Go watch it and see the carnage. Why are you basing seasons off of one game though? Hoyer was one of 4 QB's to play for Houston last season. If you want to say that he made the playoff then you should say that the other 3 mediocre QB's that started games for them made the playoffs too.
I'm not basing seasons off one game, Hoyer had a better season by almost every metric while having less talent around him on both sides of the ball. If Fitz could've played poorly instead of atrociously he too would've had an opportunity to throw playoff interceptions, unfortunately he got them all out of his system against the lowly Bills.
Almost as good an argument as saying Hoyer had a better year by almost every metric, not realizing that's false.
Your counting hoyers playoff game which was admittedly horrific. His regular season ratio was 19td:7int. Plus had a 91+ passer rating. He has a stronger arm than fitz and has a decent deep ball. If he comes at half the price of fitz he would be worth it.
But if he had "Way Fewer Passes" doesn't that skew the stats. Hoyer 19 TD passes in 9 starts --- more then 2 per start 7 ints less than 1 per start Fitz - 31 TD passes in 16 starts -- less than 2 per start 15 ints a little less than 1 per start In fact Hoyer's Ints per pass attempt were less than Fitz Hoyer's yards per attempt were higher. Too say that Fitz or Hoyer were better in almost every metric is false, they basically grade out to almost identical stats last year, each ahead of the other in some. Hoyer actually has a career winning record as a starter while Fitz is a career loser by a wide margin as a starter. Hoyer took a team to the playoffs, Fitz never has. I really want neither on the team, but if it is a choice between the 2 and Hoyer is half the price tag, then it is a no brainer.
Agree.....and so is Fitz by the way. He can keep the ship afloat for a year, hopefully no more. We need to find our long term solution quickly. He does not have the zip to fire the ball in tight spaces like you need against better defenses. Nor can he open up the game with longer passes. He will not loose it for us, but we need the QB defenses have to game plan around.....and he ain't it.
