I'm thinkin that Fitzy had best take his 7 or 8 mil and run like hell with it, and he'd better do it pretty fucking quick too. I'm betting a final "...want it, or not?" gets communicated in the next 24 hours.
Why sign Hoyer when you can have Geno for one more year for cheaper, I hate this idea. I'd rather roll with Geno if RF isn't signed, Hoyer is horrible.
That's pretty much the way I see it too. "Hey Patrick? How are you, man? So... Chad and I had a chat and sorry to tell you, but we kinda need an answer. Brian looks good, we want to offer him a deal, on Wednesday. So if your still interested in that number we discussed, can you let me know? By Wednesday, let's say 6 pm? Thanks man, hope to hear from you"
where do you get this idea that geno is better the hoyer, on the field hoyer appears to make better choices then geno. All this talk he is being brought in and will back up geno is not true. it would be an open camp.
We need a veteran on this team. I wouldn't be comfortable with Geno/Petty/rookie. I like Geno but he's still a little suspect and we need a guy with experience that can step in if Geno struggles or gets hurt.
im fine with anyone who want to roll with geno or petty. it would cost us almost nothing, and our odds of doing anything this season besides fringe playoff contention is low... that said, id rather hoyer. i think he can match what fitz did and would come cheap(id assume 2/6.5). i think he is worlds better then geno(and not because hoyer is good but because i view geno as among the worst in the league). i view hoyer like fitz, an avergish qb at best who with these weapons can be good enough to keep you competitive. and with hoyer you get your cake(average qb play) and eat it to(low cost). to me this was the same with fitz. if he would take 6-7 million sure. if your telling me i get hoyer at half that all the better. i wouldnt want to roll with geno, but im not going to knock someone who wants to roll with him in whats a bridge season anyhow
same as i always would. 6-7M. to me they are basically the same guy with the same ceiling and the same likely production. id give fitz a few extra million for his durability and familiarity. but i dont blink twice if he asks for a penny over 7. they obviously like hoyer, they wanted him last year and have him in now again. if he wants to take 3-4 million i give fitz a call saying deal at 7, fitz says no i hang up and ink hoyer
Ian Rappaport just said on NFL Network that the visit may continue tomorrow. No contract offered. Doing their homework on Hoyer. Will use it as leverage for Fitz and the interest in Hoyer is legit. Jets offered Fitz a deal like Chase Daniels which is around $11 Mill per year if incentives are hit.
Threw 4 INTs, and lost a fumble. He had another that wasn't lost. 5 turnovers in his first playoff game, threw 0 TDs, and 44% comp.
Uh - Fitz wasn't good @Buffalo but Hoyer was a bloody trainwreck in his playoff game. It was astounding when O'Brien said he "never considered" benching Hoyer in the post game press conference. The Texans didn't pay $18mm/year to Brock fucking Osweiler because Hoyer was a good option at QB.
Two of those were desperation throws. Hoyer's turnovers contributed to the massive hole the Texans were in. Big difference.
it doesnt? having similar production with the same cast a year later isnt relevant to what hoyer might do with the same case a year later here?
