Would Rolle have to go through waivers before we could sign him? That's one reason to trade for a player instead of waiting for him to be released (if the player is worth it).
Whos more valuable Rhodes or Rolle. Rhodes is seen as a better safety then many, hes just soft. If we could trade Rhodes for ROlle I wonder if we could get a late round draft pick too.
Maybe the fact that if Rolle gets released and the Jets scoop him up it will open the door to a draft day deal that gets Rhodes outta here. I'm thinking that if we can deal him for a couple of picks that we can address a few of our needs while ridding ourselves of a high $ guy who just doesn't play the type of defense we are trying to build. I doubt Rolle would command the $ that Rhodes got so it'll free up some more $ for us also.
you guys need to keep this in mind the Cowboys are in a similar place we are after their play off run. The difference is that they can sign a free agent as long as he is of equal or lesser value than a free agent which they have lost (doesn't matter with players who were cut, just like us). Next year with the Super Bowl in Dallas I feel Jerry Jones will be going nuts in an uncapped off season to insure his team plays at home in the Super Bowl. The Cowboys have a serious need for a safty (they were my #1 trade partner for Rhodes) and I have a strong feeling that he will over pay for Rolle. Rolle is due 12 M because his contract is so back loaded and the Cards can't keep him and Dansby and other high ranking players with Rolle's salary. I think we can trade Rhodes to Az for Rolle and Urban. this fills our needs for FS and slot WR in one trade allowing us to focus on DE, OLB, and CB in the draft. THis is a must do trade IMO
I haven't seen much of Rolle, but being a converted corner and former first round pick you'd assume he can hold his own in coverage. At safety a lot of the time you must break down the play and use your smarts as often as your athleticism which is probably why Rhodes gets toasted every so often. I wouldn't call Rhodes a liability in coverage, he was always pretty good actually but last year he had a few key blown coverages.
Well if we really want to add Rolle and subtract Rhodes, then we should make absolutely certain we can bring in Rolle. In order to do that, it's worth it in my eyes to kick them a 2011 6 or 7 in order to have them send Rolle our way as opposed to them cutting him and us possibly losing out on bringing him into the fold. Then we should certainly be able to flip Rhodes for something of much greater value than what we paid out for Rolle. IMO if thats the route we want to take, don't take a chance of someone way overpaying (Dallas) and us losing out when we could give up next to nothing to make sure he is ours and ours alone.
All I want to know is if he can cover TE/WR's. If not than no. Kerry Rhodes is a big time diva, and that's my biggest concern with him. I'm a Kerry Rhodes hater, but used to be a fan of him. Kerry can cover, and can deliver big hits, but he didn't seem like he wanted to this past season.. I still don't know if we should get rid of the guy. Hopefully Kerry realized he has a chance to win a Superbowl here, and if he goes off somewhere else he will not have such a chance like with the Jets. Dunno I think he can really step it up next year with him in his 2nd year of Rex's system. I dare say keep Kerry..
If i'm trading him to the Cards and getting a WR along with Rolle i'd rather have that guy with the wierd name that filled in for Boldin when he got hurt. I don't really know much about this Urban guy you mentioned.
