The other elephant in the room is mental mistakes. Mental mistakes don't do to bathroom facilities and football fields what Wayne Hunter does though, so he's top priority.

Of all the cogs you listed, only Tebow actually put up points last season. Sanburnio was only meh last season and Kerley is unproven. Tebow was winning games by coming back late in games when he was the starter. Pump your breaks about being efficient when you haven't scored a touchdown in two preseason games. Tebow can always run the wildcat though, but I wouldn't hang my hat on an offense that was figured out by most defenses.

yeah...overall i think the jets have been good on mental mistakes so far...outside of WFH of course...well actually, i dont think mental mistakes are WFH's problem. He's just not very good.

I disagree about the mental mistakes so far... 8 for 76 yards in penalties last game including the Slauson holding right before the pick 6 and McKnight with the roughing the punter extending a Giants drive that should have been done. It was exactly the same crap they kept doing last year that took a tough time and turned into an insurmountable uphill battle.

They were 7 for 52 yards in the Bungals game.

The Jets seriously need to get their discipline together. It really magnifies how bad things are when you're mixing costly mistakes in there.

i think we consider mental mistakes to be something different...i consider everything you just mentioned to be physical mistakes. to me there's nothing mental about flying in to block a punt, or holding onto a jersey

to me a mental mistake is botching an assignment, too many men on the field etc

holding, roughing the punter etc are to me physical blunders

false starts, too many men, missing assignments, offsides i consider to be mental in variety

You have a point though mine still stands. Too many mistakes our offense can't afford considering how timid things are at the moment.

lol im not saying mine stands or yours doesnt...im simply stating that im considering mental mistakes to be something different than you are...

im not saying there havent been mistakes, im simply saying that mental mistakes aren't really the issue...

but a mistake is a mistake.

im not worried about a thing. this season will be a good bounce back from not making the playoffs last year. the defense will dominate, and the offense will come along just fine. preseason with a new offensive coordinator means he is figuring out what his guys can and cant do. dont expect anything more than what you are seeing. wed like to see some more scoring, but without our best receivers, its hard to stretch the field. not to mention sanchez hasnt had much time in the pocket. i dont get why people are saying sanchez has no presence this year, if anything, that is the most glaring improvement coming into this season. sanchez looks much more poised out there. despite the one bad throw, he has done a good job. nothing is really opening up downfield, considering patrick turner is our number one receiver haha.

its just ridiculous how much people are harping on the pre-season this year. it wasnt like this last year. well, maybe a little bit with the mcelroy stuff haha, i think a lot of people still ove him form last years preseason in fact. but there is nothing to worry about with the offense, especially when you consider the circumstances. if the defense were getting torched maybe there would be a problem, but this defense looks like it is going to have another great year, so theres that as well.

fuck all the doom and gloom, this is rex ryans jets baby, no more remnants of the old guard (schotty). we finally have a team where the offense and defense are all about the same shit. its going to be a good year.

I don't see the Patriots as division winners or at least their caliber of play of years past. I am not saying the Jets will win the Division.

i love your optimism. I'm usually a glass half full guy and I agree with some of your points. But I'm not sure given the current state of the RT spot and lack of depth at WR I can agree with the hopeless optimism.

I do think with a couple of pick ups these things can be easily addressed. I also don't think the offense will be as bad as preseason or others are leading us to believe.

However, I'm not filled with uber confidence offensively right now.

I think the truth is somewhere between your post and the doom and gloom we've seen. I really won't know what to think until I see the final roster.
