I would love to see another ass-kicking DT on the roster - everywhere I look, someone is praising this guy. I have to admit, I don't know a hell of a lot about him, I haven't done a lot of draft research. But it scares me that he has the same turtle-body as DRob.
Now, my boy on 620 WDAE, "the big dog" steve deumig, swears that sanchez will be a bust because he doesnt think he's gotten enough snaps..... but the local espn affilliate on 1040, talk like this kid is the real thing and that he's the shit, basically because of the way he interviews, they say he's mature beyond his years, and calm, confident without cocky, and is just ALL about football first.... Ive not seen him play..... could he come in and start with a shotty tailored package, He 's been called more carson palmer than matt ryan...... is he worth it guys, does bring an air of enthusiasm to the the big apple
Saw the interview too and I gotta say he was very impressive. I could see Johnson, Tanny and Rex really falling for the kid. He's got the swag and he's not intimidated by NY in the least. Plus he will sell tickets to the max. If he makes it past 4 I think Tanny goes all out to get him. If not, we trade down. Either way we wont stay at 17.
Just don't think it's gonna happen. Ryan likes a defense with moxie and swagger and has a ring from a team who had a mediocre QB.
Okay, after some deliberation, I think I am on the BJ Raji bandwagon. Just imagine having him to spell Jenkins and play next to him in 4-3 sets.
This is true. On the other hand maybe he got frustrated over the years watching all that defense turn into mediocre seasons when Boller couldn't pick up the ball and move it? The question is does he stick with Clemens if he thinks he might be Boller or does he draft somebody who might be Boller? Hard to get in his head on that one until we see what he does.
Or maybe the last two times he got there it was with teams that weren't supposed to be anywhere close to the playoffs and got as far as they could go. Who exactly was he supposed to throw to vs the Ravens? Or was he supposed to run the ball himself all the way down the field? When he got there with any kind of decent team he had success in the playoffs, even with his throwing arm falling off the one year.
i'd trust the guys from ESPN than your boy "the big dog" one has more credibility than the other and presented a better argument.
I'm starting to get nervous that we'll trade up for him, and it seems that if we do that, we'd go as high as 2-4, which would likely mean surrending next year's first as well as picks this year. I just don't think he's worth that. Alleviate my fears someone! Anyone? Bueller?
Clearly not the Ravens defensive players. The team won 11 games and was playing at home against a team with a rookie QB that also won 11 games. There was no need to force the game in what should have been a low scoring close game where a rookie QB should have been the guy making the mistake. Pennington put the game out of reach not the failed running game or the recievers. 2 and 4 in 6 playoff games isn't great. In the NFL 37.5% of the teams make the playoffs. There are no teams that don't have a chance to make the playoffs when over a third of the teams in a very balanced almost mediocre league make the playoffs.
If he gets past Jacksonville at 8, I'd have no problem trading up to GB's spot to nab him, as long as the price is right (1st and 3rd this year, with a 2nd or 3rd next year)
Not sure if I should start a new thread for this..but... Beningo & Roberts reported a rumor a few minutes ago that the Jets and Jags are in trade talks for the # 8 pick. Appparently the Jags want the jets to bite on a trade ASAP and these are the current negotiations... If the jets make the trade today... Jets get: #8 pick Jags get: # 17, 2nd round pick and 5th round pick If the jets make the trade on saturday.. Jets get: #8 pick Jags get: # 17, 2nd round pick and next year's 3rd round pick I wouldnt do either...
probably a 1st, 2nd, and next years 4th. maybe even this years 7th added in It'll be worth it if the kid plays 11 years behind center. He'll have the same center for a long time. I don't believe in the "if you draft a QB and pay him all that money he plays now" bullshit. A guy like Sanchez sits and waits until he's ready, plus Clemens gets his shot- its a fair deal. The kids poise and leadership is on par for what I look for in a QB and in the realm of what i've seen in the 1st round picks that haven't been a bust. The maturity difference between Leinart and Sanchez is a wide one and I find sanchez to be a much tougher player.
that today trade is really tempting. it hurts the depth on the rest of the roster, but you get a franchise QB. play clemens, be mediocre this year and then have higher picks next year? With Sanchez starting in the new stadium.
The problem is there's a chance he doesnt make it to # 8. Which is why the jags want the jets to bite today b/c it maybe their only shot at moving down which it looks like they really wanna do. If he isnt there at 8...we're in no-man's land value wise. I guess we take a chance on Maclin/Crabtree who ever is left...but thats an awful steep price to pay to not get the guy we wanted all along.
Yuuup. Not only could he not be there at #8 but anyone else who wanted him would have plenty of time to move ahead of us. we todd did.
