They don't even have a 4th. I see them trading down no matter what value they get back. They need picks.

Would be pretty sick to have Thomas Jones , Leon Washington , Darren McFadden and Jessie Chatman running behind a new revamped O-Line... Would be great two watch but i dont think we get McFadden i think he will be gone by our pick. But i hope not.

  4. BTW, i heard you call(I'm assuming it was you based on the ?'s you said you asked and the kentucky accent,lol)...and you're right..Brandt seems pretty convinced that DMAC will not only be a great RB..but that he is not Bush II.

Of all the experts out there..I trust Brandt's opinion over any of em...and I now feel confident that if we take DMAC...that it is the right move.. This FO has DEF. done their homework on him and they arent done yet.

Tannenbaum was probably telling him that at this point in his life a withdrawl is probably better than a deposit.

    questions for the group:

1- can mcfadden return ko's and punts, like leon? would his blazing 4.3 speed be usable to us anywhere beyond 10-12 running plays a game?

2- the life an average nfl running back is 4-5 years, due to wear and tear. sure they can play longer, but they lose a step pretty quick. assuming mcfadden shares the rb load and has 5 full max-productive years, his contribution will be 12 plays per game, times 16 games per year, time 5 years, equals 960 total nfl career plays.

if we draft qb, db, ol, or dl at #6 who plays all 40 snaps per game for 8-10 years, his nfl contribution will be 40x16x10=6,400 plays, almost 7 times more than mcfadden.

by the time mcfadden is washed up, an ol or dl pic is just hitting their prime and good to go for another 5-6 years.

does game day snaps and longevity figure into the equation when drafting at #6 (960 vs 6,4000)?

^your argument is actually a good reason to draft a RB like DMC with the 6th pick of the draft. While you're waiting for your 4th or 5th year player to "hit his stride", DMC would already have justified his draft position by providing an electrifying 4 or 5 years. And as we all know, that guy hitting his stride is probably going to end up in Washington going to a pro bowl with the skills that we spent all that time developing.

    This is brilliant!

  9. 1- I believe DMAC returned punts his freshman year and was very successful. He also will provide use in the slot, as a dual back w/ TJ and LW and obviously as a change of pace.

2-Initially he maybe good for 15 plays a game..but no one says he cant put some additional muscle on his legs and get up to around 220-225. Afterall the guy carried the ball around 40 times a game in college.

The Raiders don't need any picks, they already have the most talented roster in the NFL. Don't make me list heights/weights/40 times.

Yep, I called in around 8:00 central time, and yes I have a distinct Kentucky accent. I asked him his opinion about the overall direction of the Jets heading forward but it turned into a discussion of DMac and what he thought was going to happen with the Oakland at #4 and Dallas trading up (which he thought was not going to happen)...

Brandt has forgotten more than all of the talking heads put together will ever know about the NFL... They don't call him the Godfather for nothing...

  12. I'm an nfl sirius radio junkie... they talk about the jets ALOT..and it's very cool to know there are other TGGers who listen. One day ill get the courage to call in

I have a hard time seeing McFadden fall past the Raiders. Honestly, has there ever been a more perfect Al Davis player than McFadden? Bo Jackson I suppose. That's about it. I don't think they're going to pass him up because they have Fargas and Michael Bush.

  14. Don't forget Dominic Rhodes who they gave a boatload of money too last year as well.

Rhodes only has a two year, 7.5 million dollar deal. It's not very prohibitive to cut him. Jordan got a much larger deal. I don't know what portion has been paid out, but it seems like he's an easy cut too.

i am sure davis would like nothing more than to stick it to the jets.....

he also has a young 2nd year QB that needs protection via the running game.

    its a 50/50 chance.

full disclosure - i do not want DMC - nothing personal - but i would rather have defense if given the opportunity at 6 or thereabouts.

If DMC is there we are gonna take him for sure.

On another note did anyone see Tom Rock's mock draft for the jets on NFL.com picking Matt Ryan at 6. Don't think that will happen cause Atlanta will pick him for sure, but suprised he thought that is where the Jets will go. He made some good points, but it will not happen

Finally, Somebody that knows what there talking about.

I'm really not convinced Dallas is trading up with Owens and Glenn getting older.

    TO HIM GOING TO OAKLAND:
*caps were to seperate not to yell*

Oakland has many RB's that are still young. I see Oakland taking somebody on the defensive side on the ball as there defense was utterly horrible last year

    Oaklands Defense:

    22nd in Total Defense YPG
8th in Passing YPG - They don't need any CB's, FS, SS
31st in Rushing YPG - That right there tells me there taking an Defensive Line Player.
