I said this last season: Brady doesn't go from never throwing more then 28 TD passes, to suddenly throwing 50, just because he is that good. We will see that this season: With that offense around Cassel, he really just has to not fumble the snap to get 10 wins this year. We'll just have to get 11. =)
The reality is the Pat's won a total of 18 games last year so if Cassel is half the QB Brady is you should win 9 games, 8 during the regular season. Brady is a once in a lifetime talent that has propelled your franchise (along with some favorable calls) for years. Welcome to every other teams week-in, week-out headaches...
Montana was the best ever and his 49er teams continued to win. Steve Young stepped into a dream job with a loaded team around him. He WAS NOT nearly as good as Montana.
I find Montana better because he threw game winning TDs. I keep seeing Brady get into FG range and not throwing TDs to his receivers. I don't know if its a coaching thing, or if its Brady, but that takes away from it- the guy sealing the game is/was Vinatieri... It just says something to me.
If Brady isn't the best, he's in the same ballpark with Montana, who I consider the best right now. There is no way he isn't top 10.
ok, I just read Tom Brady's biography on Patriots.com.... on that site, if you search the word "game" you will find all of the game-winning scoring drives documented... I got tired of finding the game-winning TD drive, because all I found were Vinatieri Field Goals to win the game.... so Adam Vinatieri won the game, Brady just helped him get into range. Blame BB or Brady or both, but if you have such a great QB- why the fuck is he never in the red zone at the end of the game? I think Brady is an amazing QB, but how come he isn't on the 7 throwing it to Watson for the win?? There was time to spare in most of those games too, so what the hell? Let the man win the game... that kind of trend can label Brady as a game manager if one chooses to spin it that way. This post is trying to do that... I don't like the decisions, it takes away from the legacy-- I am the greatest QB to let my kicker win the game.... Which means I have the greatest kicker of all time, because if he misses once, I'm not the QB you think I am. Fucked up ain't it?
I don't think you can really use that as a reason. The game has changed and in how many of those cases did Montana thow TD's because the Niners were down by 4 or more points? For example the Bengals SB he couldn't get them in FG range because they needed more than that to win. All 3 SB's all the Cheats needed was a FG to win. I think some of you are allowing your hatred of the Cheats to obscure your opinion of Brady. He is clearly a top 5 all time QB. The problem is my view is somewhat tainted because of spygate but you can't deny what he has done in his years in Cheatsboro. You throw all that Spygate stuff out and you look at the WRs he was throwing to; Deion Branch, Troy Brown, Charles Johnson, Fred Coleman, David Givens, Bethel Johnson, JJ Stokes etc... All that being said the Cheats OL isn't nearly as good as it was 3 years ago, nor is the defense that was winning games before the Brady/Moss combo and certainly an aging LB corp and awful secondary they certainly are more vulnerable then they were a few years ago. I think there is tremendous pressure on Cassel. I think the Cheats will obviously gameplan to take the pressure off him but that being said the Jets and everybody else is going to do all they can to force Cassel to beat them the way Brady would. You can't downplay how important Brady is to that team and what his place is in the history of great QB's. They may win this week but I can't see them sustaining the emotional level to win enough games to be a factor in the AFC with Cassel as their QB, he just isn't good enough to do so.
You didn't look too hard, eh? Besides taking his team down the field with 1:21 and 1:08 left for Superbowl winning FGs, in just his first 3 years he had 8 of the 28 4th Quarter comeback wins he's engineered. Here are just a couple. 2001- Led the Pats to 2 TDs against the Chargers in the 4th Quarter, and an OT win. 2002- Two drives (1 FG, 1 TD) in the last 4:54 against the dolphins to tie the game. Won it in OT 2002- Two TDs in the final 5:16 to beat overcome an 11 pt Bear lead. 2003- Marched the team to a game winning TD against Denver with 18 seconds left.
You would think Jet fans would remember this game in particular. Maybe the only time I've ever rooted for the scumbags in Cheatsboro.
Damn...............ENOUGH of this foolishness..........the PATS are WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE........they're Offence AND DEFENSE are FULL of PRO BOWLERS...........we have our hands FULL this Sunday!
