Thanks. I was not sure what his contract situation was. so if he is still here beyond next year they will probably wait. Unless somebody knocks their socks off with an offer. Guys come back from his surgery better than ever, and so much of his game is mental dominance.
i agree with the bold. instead of spending money on a retread just play Greg and lets see what we have in him.
agree on most of this. i definitely don't want to see any resources other than vet min. wasted on a jag qb. if the a qb is atvailable at 9 that grades out i have no problem drafting a qb this year though. as far as rex goes. i don't think he is a win or else deal this year.
why didn't you see WR's tearing up CB's this weekend, we can avoid that with Revis Once Talib went out, Boldin went off Julio Jones was rapping every Niner CB With Revis and Cromartie thats not happening especially if we get some speed at LB Revis IS FAR from a problem on this team He has nothing to do with the offense or the shit mess we're in with the cap
I agree, its not practical to trade revis until we see what he can do after his injury. That said, I think its a little sad to see some people here gleefully say that we will be a 4 or 5 win team just so they can see rex ryan fired. if anything, the playoffs have taught us that having a great defense is better than having a great offense. teams can get by with a good offense if they have a great defense. that's what rex ryan is trying to emulate, see SF and Bal.
I don't hate him, and I know how valuable he is, but the good odds are that he is going elsewhere one way or another. The Jets can try to lock him up before his deal ends, but he's a smart guy and he has seen the way this team does business... and he is good enough to make his own terms on a deal to cash in. He's got the business part of this industry down pretty well. Unless the Jets turn things around pretty quickly, and find a large amount of cap space to fit him under, this guy is gone. Better to get something for the best defender in the league than let him walk, especially if it's to a division rival.
I watched both games too. When Talib went down, Marquice Cole came in for him. Pretty substantial drop off. Flacco was tossing rainbows that none of the CBs on this team would fail to cover which is why Cole is no longer a Jet. Revis is said to be looking for close to 16 million a year, up from 11.5. Even 11.5 is too much for a guy that stops 8 passes a game. Bellidouche has always been right about the worth of DBs, and he's a DB coach.
Well it got him to the AFCCG. Heck we've already put Rex in the Jets Hall of Fame for losing two of them.
I think the problem is, yes we need great corner play, but what's the price of great vs elite corner corner play? You can get great corner play for a whole lot cheaper than it would take to get elite corner play from Revis. Is it worth that extra money to have the elite play? I personally don't think it's worth it. If Revis wants to sign a realistic CB deal, but still near a top paid corner, I would welcome him with open arms. If he wants to keep on pushing his value more and more, then that's when you decide the price of elite vs great. Also, hypothetically, our pass rush improves, in theory isn't that supposed to make the corners job easier and we don't need to have someone covered for 10 seconds?
I agee with Keller not being worth the money. I'm not sure if Sanchez is to blame for this but I guess we will find out if Keller finds success on another team. Unfortunately for Keller, he couldn't block in the former offense which required the TE to block, shed the block and then run a route.
Our problem is we dont have a true pass rush which can be addressed via draft The Patriots cant stop receivers from going off because their secondary sucks
Dustin Keller has the worst coordination I have ever seen. He's got some pretty bad awareness, but he's great in the open field. Depending on the money he wants, it's not worth bringing him back - he still can't block neither.
I want Chris Ivory to share carries with Powell and Matt Moore to have a training camp competition with Sanchez and Mcelroy
If he's asking for that kinda money, ship his ass out of here. Cro and another CB will be more valuable than 30% of the salary cap on 2 CBs. Revis gets $10 mil a year or say goodbye. The loss of Revis will be more than made up for with a better pass rusher or a good coverage safety.
Not too long ago you said I don't know football. This is arguably one of the most ignorant statements I've read on a board in a very long time. Revis completely takes away an opponent's #1 WR from the game. That provides a diabolical mind like Rex a lot of options. Not to mention it completely f&cks up the opponent's game plan. Don't you find it amazing that we've been able to field top 5 defenses without having any real pass rushing threats? That doesn't happen just because Revis stops 8 passes a game.
I'm not sure Sanchez would negate a trade for any good QB as long as we sign them to a new deal where this year has a low cap number. We can cut Sanchez easily after this year with less than 5 million in dead money. We also get a lot of cap relief next year so that wouldn't be all that bad to absorb anyway.
Please sign Fred Davis, Nacho's college TE. He's a bigger and coordinated version of Keller with WCO experience. He's coming off an injury so he will carry a cheaper price tag than he would healthy. A pass catching TE is essential in the WCO. Side note: In 2008 we traded back into the first round to get Keller, when we could have stayed put and picked up Davis in the 2nd. Keller and Davis were like neck and neck as the best TEs coming out. I personally thought Davis was the best TE but Tanny obviously thought Keller was. The drop off in talent, if one existed, was NOWHERE big enough to warrant a trade up for Keller. Just another Tanny head scratcher.
