For sure, which is a likely scenario. JD and his staff probably assumed Robby was set to get paid (like 13-15M per year paid) and started to look for other options. Something any good/competent GM would do.

Going off of his comments during his presser, I got the feeling that they were surprised when Robby signed for 2 yr/20M. Which makes me feel like Robby's camp didn't give them a chance to match the offer, otherwise they would have based off of his comments.

But, like you said, we'll probably never truly know how that whole situation played out. Either way, JD make a mistake, admitted as much to the media, and said he plans to work on that to make sure it doesn't happen again.

How many passes did we all give Sam during his first few years for all of his turnovers(mistakes)? I get it, JD is not an "NFL rookie", but in terms of being a GM, he is still very much a rookie. He will make mistakes but as long as he is willing to learn from those and improve himself? I don't see the issue with it.

(That last comment was not directed at you Footballgod, just more of a general statement for the thread haha)

Man takes account of actions you dont like.....boooooo hisssssss.

Robbys gone, let it go. Mans having a good year, and im happy for him.

There's not a single agent, gm or coach that took anything from that interview other than, he'll have your back.

You know when he doesnt. When he's gone at the end of the year, and why would you want the next 8 weeks to be a horrid atmosphere each day?

When a team is 0-8 you have to work to get better, as no team states they are tanking. Actions yes, words no.

Darnold will be traded, hes the future qb for 8 weeks and we want to trade him for a good pick, not kill the kid in public.

I get that losing seasons suck, its crap. Lets just see what happens with this team between week 17 and the superbowl.

Douglas admitted that he was off on valuing Anderson's value - I see that as a severe hardship in coming to agreement on terms. I also Anderson's value to the Jets should have been a bit higher than that to any other franchise - the old "devil you know" thing at work.

I don't want a GM who has his mind set in concrete before there is a signature on somebody'd contract. Flexibility and ongoing adaptation is the name of the game.

What you think most likely or probably happened is not something I'll use to make excuses for the guy or what he might have convinced himself of.

(I thought Anderson would get 10-12 million.)

Have you never heard of coaches getting the "dreaded vote of confidence" from the chairman/owner?

    This means less than nothing

we have seen him gaff a number of times thus far. angering players, not bringing back guys he should have and just generally not being at the top of his game. while i think he cant undermine the guy to say he is the future is idiotic or whatever it was exactly that he said.

if the jets do bring gase back, or if gase isnt gone the day after the season i will surely be on hiatus. i cannot continue with these dummies making bad decisions on a constant basis.

My biggest fear with JD is that he's nothing more than a little Do-Boy to Adam Gase.

Frank Gore being a Jet is because JD sucked off Gase in order to make Gase "happy".

And if you don't believe that Gase was able to convince JD into trading away Jamal, not bringing back Robby, out right releasing Le'Veon Bell and disgusting CJ Mosley to the point of quitting on football? Well then I've got a bridge in Queens to sell you (just ask Frank Gore who Gase MADE JD bring into town).

That's my biggest fear with JD is that he not only believes in Gase but also doesn't have a backbone nor a spine of his own to sit on while being able to say... "NO" to Adam Gase.

jeez thats a scary thought. it happens so often with people who have narcissistic personality disorder which i wouldnt be surprised if gase has. they have a certain control over people, that is gotten by manipulation.
