it's not too far off. The compensation is about the same. Edwards' 3rd season had 1,300 yds and 16TDs..... but never came close to that again (for various reasons) Not against this moves, but like Br4dw4y said, there's a reason a team would be willing to trade a talented YOUNG player. The move doesn't come without risk
If the Jets are indeed interested in Gordon I think it also said a lot about how they feel about Hill. One can speculate that the jets simply no longer trust Hill. Since Hill caused the INT against Tennessee he has seen very few non deep balls come his way with the exception of the two minute drill at the end of the Falcon game. It is also likely the last INT against NE game 1 was on Hill as it was either a mix up on Geno or on Hill. The problem with Hill is he not only does not locate the ball well but he often will not look back at the QB leaving Geno in a bind. We see this a lot with Hill where he is open on slants for quick hits with Geno looking at him but Hill not turning his head forcing Geno to move on in progression. While Gordon would be a huge upgrade the question I have been asking the last few weeks since the Tenn. game is have we lost confidence in Hill?
You're absolutely right about Hill not getting the same amount of targets that he was at the beginning of the season. The timing between Hill and Smith has been off for the past few weeks. It also does seem like they're asking Hill to take on deeper routes, which appears to be a change in what they've asked him to do for the past two years. However, it's too early to say that the Jets are giving up on Hill. (And, on the plus side, when he does locate the ball, he appears to catch it, which is MAJOR improvement from last year .)
I don't think they lost confidence in Hill at all... Gordon could be the #1, Hill the #2 (which he should be), and Kerley the slot reciever... With this deal, we won't have to waste a pick on a reciever that we have no clue how he will translate in the NFL.. We know Josh Gordon could be something special and the kid is only 22!!!! Snatch this kid up ASAP!
i'd get gordon for our 2nd....especially considering the comp picks we'll be getting in the third.... ask yourself this question. if draft day rolled around would you draft josh gordon in the second round? i sure as hell would. plus i firmly believe gordon style matches perfectly with geno's style....could be a connetion for years to come. and with stephen hill continuing to progress and kerley roaming the slot we suddenly have a very potent passing attack. and not of the rental variety...gordon is incredibly young, as is hill and kerley.
This......if it pans out. Planning ahead for Santonio's exit. Nelson at #4 and the JETS have a good stable of young WRs to build a rapport with their young QB. Something the last GM failed to do.
Please don't be messing with us lol. I have heard absolutely nothing that points to us getting him yet. But I am SO on board with this move if it happens.
Goodie..Just enough of a sustained rumor to keep me from concentrating on work.. Gordon would be SICK for now & the future.
That would indeed be a PARTY. Gordon is the legit playmaker the jets lack & pairing him w/ Hill/Kerley/Cumberland long term would be deadly.
Teams with a confirmed offer: 49ers (appears to be a 2nd plus) Teams around whom there is a lot of smoke: Falcons (contacted Browns last week), Colts (Irsay hasn't announced an offer yet so...)
