Personally i'd like to see more honest criticism of the players, especially the QB's.
You can have your players backs, yet still be critical of things they need to improve on.
    enough coddling

  2. Exactly how I feel. People are judging Rex solely on a QB competition w/ significant media driven undertones.

Getting really sick of the media sheep.

The problem with the team is a dogshit offense.

The people who wanted a new coach want one to fix the dogshit offense.

    We got one:

Unless you can convince Rex to take a demotion to DC and get Sean Payton to run the offense, you can't ask for a better one-two punch than Morninweg on O/Rex on D.

Coaching isn't our problem anymore, it's talent, and while I think the talent is better than people are giving it credit for, you can't blame Rex for the cupboard being bare on offense. He's cleaning up Tannenbaum's clusterfuck, and it's going to take more than one offseason to do it.

these sorts of threads make me SMH

how do you know that Rex is not trying an approach with Geno that he thinks will work - it seemed (from the outside) obvious that Sanchez had confidence issues and so he tries to coddle him (doesnt really seem to be working but there we go) perhaps the view is that Geno is the sort of guy that would respond well to criticism and want to prove you wrong and get fired up?

and all these people saying he was nuts for playing Sanchez at QB - can they just list out exactly who were the nailed on franchise QB calibre options that were sat there waiting for us to either sign them or draft them?

oh wait, that's right, there weren't any.

You know what, I read this this morning, voted and answered in this thread.
I've been to work and just got in.... I really didn't realise how much,
A: This question really annoys me and...
B: The amount of people who seem to get brainwashed by other peoples 'important' opinions.

    3 Things:
I hope Rex is here and successful for a damn long time, I like him as a HC and as a person.
I hope that Sanchez finds his mojo and and becomes the player we all wanted him to be and starts winning games for us
I hope we win the SB.......soon.

He's a great defensive coach and should focus on that. When it comes to offense, he's terrible, including choosing an OC. He needs a strong OC, which they now have, to run the offense. The question is can he be a good head coach.

I'm very excited to have both Rex and Marty. Also like our other coordinators in Thurman and Kotwica, and position coaches like Lee and Dunbar.

I'd like to see some continuity for our players with this staff.
Do we really want to fire all these guys, and start over from scratch (including a lot of the hybrid personnel who may or may not fit with new coaches)?

That pick at the time was actually viewed as a good one, especiallly for a 5th rounder. Conner (remember that play against So. Carolina when he blew up Norwood?) was generally recognized as the best blocking back going into the draft. Drafted just above him was Walter McFadden who washed out with the Raiders and has bounced around from one practice squad after another. Just behind him was Ed Wang (Buffalo) who was cut and has bounced around between the Raiders & Eagles. The Giants 5th round pick? Mitch Petrus who's currently a FA looking for a job.

The overall 2010 Jet draft was the problem. Kyle Wilson, Vlad Ducasse, no #3, Joe McKnight & Conner. Now THAT's an awful draft overall; Conner was the least of it.

1 pick six and then going 10/13 with a TD is FAR less "brutal" then throwing 4 picks in a matter of an hour with no rebound. Had Sanchez not bounced back I'm pretty sure Rex would have had some choice words.. But he did... Geno did not, and ended the practice just as poorly as he started.

He hit the nail on the head; That practice was brutal, and Geno knows it too.

I was in favor of Rex getting fired along with Tannenbaum last year. No hindsight necessary. He shot his wad as a HC in 09 and 10. But I have no choice but to hope I'm wrong. At least we had a sane offseason.

People need to calm down. It's week 2 of preseason. We're acting like the season is over before it has even started. Rex is fine. Nobody will be complaining when we have yet another top 5-10 defense.

Bill Parcells' greatest gift as a head coach had nothing to do with X's and O's, game-day adjustments or personnel evaluation. Instead, it had everything to do with bonding. No coach in his era was better at discovering exactly what it takes to motivate every player on his roster. More importantly, as many of those players would attest, he also understood something equally crucial to his success: All players shouldn't be treated equally.

Well, Rex can't win really. If he is complimentary about his players, he's being to soft. If he criticizes them, he is being unfair. This is broken logic.

For years people have been calling for Rex to get on his players and when he finally does, he still hears the criticism.

No hindsight necessary, he should have been canned. His philosophy just doesn't work with the talent level we had. When you have pro-bowlers all over and Ray Lewis leading, Rex's system is great. When you have a veteran lockerrom with pit bulls like Tom Jones, consumate pros who happen to be All-world talent like Revis and solid citizens, his system works. Take that away, and it crumbles because he runs a loose ship. He is not suited for a young team, that needs to be molded into a system and cultivated.

But I understand Idzik's logic. It's all about saving costs this year. So once Rex and Sanchez are up this January, they can sail off together.

Fans will if we have a bottom 5-8 offense.

Not being a Rex guy, I was for firing him just for the clean slate approach to a rebuild. I don't think Rex should be extended unless we see tangible inprovement on and off the field regarding the team. Although his roster has been gutted, it had to happen thanks to his old boss's penchant for bad contracts. Rex has the backing of Woody for this year only. Most likely because Woody is allergic to paying guys to stay home which is what would have happened if he let Rex go while still under contract.

Its still Idzik's call on this and hopefully, his judgement regarding Rex will work out better than his some of personnel moves so far.

Do you honestly that Rex is the sole reason for having a bad offense? He's not the one calling the plays. He's not the one drafting players or making FA acquisitions. He makes the call on the starting QB; that is all. If you are going to argue whether Sanchez was the best QB on our team in the four seasons prior to this one, you're crazy. This year is different. There is actually a competent OC, competition at QB, and some talent to work with. If we have a bottom 5-8 offense, it will be because of Mark's dumb mistakes or because of Geno's being a rookie.

Yeah, definitely but I never recall him doing it in the past. Or at least not much. So it struck me as odd. I don't think it's a big deal but still caught my attention.
