I don't get the title in the first place. That's a lot coming from me. It's the media's cat is all I kept seeing. Well, Christmas is almost here, so why not change the title to The Minister's Cat and be done with it.
With all the bad publicity in the NFL, no way the Jets fire a minority coach This guy is here 2-4 more years
Can someone tell me how to change a title once u post. I did it without my glasses on. Obviously not my intention
He was terrible the entire time and it was obvious to anyone with a pulse sometime in Year 2. Squandered a very talented team.
I blame McCown. If he would simply have been put on IR by week 3 or 4 of the season, as I had predicted back in the off season, everything could have worked out fine. Now that we've seen Petty play, we can be fairly certain of it.
In fairness, having a competent, experienced QB in place for most of the season with so many young players and a new OC surely helped get the young guys up to speed and helped get some experience and some confidence in the offense. That should pay dividends for the 2018 QB. Inflation-adjusted value of those dividends? Eleven cents!
We could have gotten the same information without the wins as long as the kids got real time, real game experience. The only thing those 5 wins did was secure our NOT getting a top-5 pick without moving heaven and earth. They also secured Bowles's job and I guess that's all that really matters in the big picture.
The Jet Ownership could have avoided all of this by giving verbal commitment to Bowles before the season started and letting the formal paperwork being done after the 2017 season. Bowles wouldn't have had to coach for his professional life and could have taken into account the long term effects on the team developmentally and draftwise. As it is, Bowles was coaching this year not knowing what next year was gonna bring even though to hear him say it publicly, it was never a consideration. Considering how low the bar was set, I still don't know what Bowles was worried about.
