russell is a clear bust, the raiders would be smart to cut their losses and move on

maybe it was just me but i never liked russell one bit coming out 2 yrs ago, i thought maybe as a late round pick he could develop into a decent backup but i was stunned when the experts through him up in the top of the draft

outside of his amazing arm russell has nothing, he cant run, he has no accuracy, and he is pretty stupid as his ability to read defenses is borderline pathetic

not to mention also that he has no conditioning skills what so ever

I found this in the ESPN Rumors section tonight:

    From KC Joyner:

"To put JaMarcus Russell's 39.8 passer rating into perspective, consider this: If you were to go onto an NFL field and throw a single incompletion, your passer rating would be 39.6."

Week 3 and Joe's gone already? lol

him being dumb is the key right there. he's a big athlete who isn't intelligent in any way what so ever.

you can't be a franchise QB and not have any intangibles at all. Make him a right tackle to save his career.

I would assume you are using the term "athlete" loosely here?

we wouldnt have drafted Shonn Greene and wed have a three headed monster unlike any other in the league.

then jones goes next year and its the Washington N D-Mac show.

the jury is still out but i watch the raiders sometimes just cause of McFadden. he has a lil fumbilitis. BUT their O-Line is complete and utter garbage.

only time will tell. if Garcia was playing QB for them I bet hed look alot better. no RB can do anything when you have a hot dog cart handing you the ball.

no defensive coordinator is worried about Russell beating them. i swear on that.

    Hahahahahaha.

Evan Roberts believes Jamarcus Russell will be a good QB in the NFL, and picks the Raiders > Texans.

    Hahahahaha.

WOw... I've been surfing on the Raiders site for a while... it's amazing how many Raider fans hate Al Davis... they are starting to understand :p. RaiderJoe should post there and explain to them why Al is the greatest mind in football.

PS Where is Raiderjoe? Pleeeeeeeeeeaaase come back :p

I actually feel bad for Jamarcus Russell. He's as physically gifted as any QB in the NFL, maybe moreso. With good coaching and a strong organization he could've been focused on football and taught to understand how to read a defense and become a quarterback, not a thrower.

Instead he got picked by the worst coaching staff and most dysfunctional organization in football, maybe in all of sports. He's actually regressed from the point he was at when he was drafted. I don't actually pity him (I wish I had a God-given freak arm that made me $70 million dollars for merely existing) but I do lament his wasted potential.

no, he wasn't any better in college than he is now, the talent discrepancy is just larger and he was able to look good playing for a good team against teams not as talented. but if you watched him in college, he was a walking billboard for what not to do as a QB. how anyone could have watched him and thought he was an NFL QB, nevertheless the top pick in the draft, is crazy. he simply doesn't have the discipline and never has. no club could have changed that, he spent far too long confusing his strong arm for being a good QB because it always got him through.

You mean he has a big arm..that is the beginning and the end of his physical gifts.

Basically big arm and good size (before he stopped paying attention to football and went from "big" to "fat.") Basically all the physical tools you need to be a good QB.

I watch most of LSU's games so I've seen a ton of Russell. Top pick in the draft was extreme for him but this guy isn't exactly a talentless scrub--he made a ton of perfect throws under pressure in big games. The fact that he hasn't improved since college (and has actually regressed in my opinion) is a testament to the mess that is the Oakland Raiders.

Precious few quarterbacks come out of college ready to overcome the mental challenges of playing the position in the NFL. Some, like Tom Brady for example, are well coached and learn how to do it. Some, like Jamarcus Russell, are so poorly coached that they can barely complete 20% of their passes in an NFL game. Such is life in the NFL.

This will probably be Raiderfaux's earliest regular season exit yet.

Without accuracy you might as well have nothing and that is where he is at. He misses by 10 yards or more on every throw. He could have the biggest canon in the world and it is useless.
