Are they? I mean, obviously getting into NFL shape is a different thing, but I'm pretty sure his work schedule for the next 8 months wouldn't be an inch different even if he came out and announced retirement now. The only thing I can imagine keeping Jenkins from coming back is the fear that he'd tear a fourth ACL. At some point, you start wondering, are they really freak accidents, or is it something about the way he plays that's causing this to happen. If he's sure it's a freak thing and the risk of a fourth tear is no greater than anybody else's risk of a first tear, he's gotta come back, especially in the likely event that we don't win a Super Bowl this year.
I think he'll come back. If he retires now, then it's two long rehabs for nothing. The competitor in him won't want to go out this way. He'll want to go out on his own terms, and if it's not with a ring, then at least it's going to be walking through the tunnel on the last day of the season with his team. Also, he came back once for Rex, and he didn't get to experience the benefits. So I think he'll do it again. Lastly, it's not like he didn't enjoy camp. If anyone actually enjoyed that shit, it was him. He will have his family's blessing and try for one more. Good for us!
Popeye's is a smart call by Big Jenk post op. The grease from the chicken will help lube the knee joint.
