Good it takes an external source to see that this is not hung on Mangini. It was execution and poor play calling. Mangini took over the DEFENSIVE side of the ball. I think it improved with bringin pressure.
I wonder if these guys know there's an "offensive coordinator" He calls the plays unless the coach is an offensive guru or just a prick. EM is a defensive guy. Do you guys want Herm back? Do ya? Well ya can't F'in have him, so get over it! lol
Exactly the safety took him out when he and the WR had their hands on the ball. If he doesn't get taken out by the safety chances were very good that pass is either broken up or an INT.
This is the most ridiculous statement, I have read today. I am dumber for having read it. He had the god damn interception and was knocked off the f-ing ball by Elam. WTF do you want him to do?
The three best players on the field today where Revis, Harris and Jones, to bad they are Mangini guys.
It doesn't fit the agenda of Don and Jetcane. Although in Don's case it's just frustration from being a long time Jets fan. Cane just can't stand his idol and former Cane player not be the foundation of this teams future.
Well LOL. For Cane, I feel bad. I can not believe such a good poster during training camp can be so bad during the regular season. Maybe someone stole his login. At least that is what I hope.
I guess that answers my question....once you go with an OC for the year, it's pretty near impossible to adjust the offense mid season.....you're kind of stuck with him.
that doesn't necessarily mean they like him any more than players he inherited. I am assuming the term "Mangini guy" is used in the same sense as a "Parcells guy," in which they are players that are meant to be extensions of him, meaning they buy into his philosophy. there is no indication that those players do just because they were drafted under his tenure. in fact, it could be argued that they have less choice in the matter because as draft picks they didn't get to choose to play for him and were obligated to sign with the Jets while they prove their worth, whereas veterans can piss and moan their way out and still maintain established value.
Revis is making some strides. He'll be good. Not sure if a shutdown guy yet. He definitely does not have that right off the bat. Editing to say I agree with every point the OP made. Mangini's flaws are on display a lot these days. If he goes 1-15 instead of 6-10 or 7-9 I'll never see him as more than a guy we trained on the job. I hate that kind of situation. There's no reason ever to hire a coach who needs training wheels. This is the NFL, not the Arena League.
I actually went to today's game. Why? I can't really tell you. I guess I just wanted to go to one more game this season before I totally resigned myself to staying home. That was a big mistake. Worst game I've ever been to. I would prefer the Jets have gotten blown out. At least I could've seen some offense. Instead, I saw an exaggerated version of what I've grown accustomed to watching the Jets - really, really boring uneventful football. What an abysmal game. First blame goes to Shottenjunior for completely uninspired, chickenshit playcalling. Then to Mangini for not putting in Clemens. Maybe an excellent case can be made for keeping Chad in. But the season is over. The crowd is booing LOUDLY every time Chad steps on the field. Just put him in and the crowd will shut up if he sucks and explode if he's good. Why must you torture us so, Eric? At least Harris looked great. There's some hope on the horizon. But, at this point, there's only a handful of guys that should remain on this team (Rhodes, Harris, Revis, Coles, Cotch, Mangold, D'Brick, TJones, Leon, and maybe Baker).
And Adrien Clarke, Anthony Clements, Kevin Barlow and KVO. Mangini has not demonstrably added to the talent on this team since he took over. Are there some talented players here who were not here before he got here? Yes. Are there some talented players who hit the highway? Yes. Right now the Jets have as little talent on the team as they have had since before Bill Parcells came to town. That's how you get to be 1-7. Unless of course somebody wants to claim the talent is there but the coaching is just terrible...
while that may be your opinion, going into today's game, Revis led the team in tackles. I think that is a pretty good indicator of one's ability to tackle.
Exactly- I'm tired about hearing "this team is 4 or 5 plays away from being .500." You are what your record says you are. The Tuna was right about that.
