I dont like vick as a veteran backup. not unless he is the #3 and there just as more of a coach. I dont think its smart to have a abckup who you can not rely on to stay healthy.
I don't believe Vick's condition is chronic. He is healthy now. I am concerned by his history, but it's not clear to me he is destined to be hurt if he plays some.
He has missed games to injury in 6 of his last 7 years. maybe he doesnt have any specific chronic injury, but at 5'11" and under 200 pounds with how much he plays outside the pocket, it isnt a safe bet to think he would stay healthy. and at 35 i think even less likely. thats not someone i want as my backup or someone i have any confidence in being able to stay on the field
Look, im with you... im not Geno fan and want no part of him as my starting QB. im not opposed to him being the longterm solution as a backup, but he clearly is not cut out to start in this league. I've stated this many times. That said, the quickest way to move on is to see the course, do the due dilligence starting him the rest of the year, then moving on at the end with a high pick to use to select a QB or make a trade for one My avatar is more of a "anyone but sanchez" avatar then a geno one. it was added when we drafted him. i have 0 attachment or confidence in Geno, but i understand the process that must take place
I've seen enough due diligence when it comes to Smith. He sucks, he's not getting any better, and the rest of the team is folding as well. I understand the talent overall is really not there. But when your Qb sucks and gives the game away too often, the rest of your developing players are adversely affected as well. Plus in effect Ryan is coddling Smith by leaving him in there, and that also undermines the team. Get him out of there. He's trash.
Been a Jets fan for 48 years (1967). There have only been maybe 5 seasons where I can't watch, and this is one of them. The most difficult part I think, is that this team under Rex, has been STUPID. Dumb penalties, stupid predictable offense, and how many games does the opposition score right before halftime? You can set your watch to it. If they somehow win the next 2, I might watch in 3 weeks.
Team had some really crappy teams in the mid 70's. Namath was a shadow of himself and about the only bright spot was Riggins...who left.
