I don't understand what you guys think is going to be so different. Are LT and Shonne Greene going to be suddenly productive, for the first time since before the bye? Is that going to happen on the road against the best run defense in the league? What do you think is going to happen if you can't get the running game going? Do you think Sanchez isn't gonna be harassed most of the game? Do you really think you can go into Heinz Field and win with less then 14 points?

How is any of this stuff gonna happen? Or more importantly, what's your basis for believing that it will? You are kidding yourself if you think this team's struggles have only been around the last two games. When was the last time you saw them play at a level that you thought was championship quality? Has that even happened this year?

This game will come down to turnovers. Hopefully the Jets don't get the short end of that stick. Should be a good old fashion defensive struggle with a low score. I don't see either offense putting up a lot of points in this one.

Thanx... I thought I was the only one who saw that these problems have been around for a better part of the season...

well, not the only one, but apparently, I'm a minority... a good portion of the board seems to think they will have a miraculous turn around vs the best rush defense in the league, and some guy named Troy who all he does is make huge pics

According to Joe Benigno, the Jets have never in their history beaten the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

Edit: This is fact. The Jets overall record against them is pretty pitiful too.

I think this would have been a close game even the Jets had been playing better. I think Rothlesberger will give the Jets trouble and produce enough offense to win.

If the Jets offense wakes up this could be a close game (with even a potential win) but if they don't, it will be another solid loss. Pittsburgh is a tough team to unkink your offense against. If the Jets play well even if they lose, that's not a bad thing.

That seems to be the pervasive attitude these days. I can't seem to find anyone from TGG coming to Pittsburgh for the game (via the thread in Jets Experience). I will be there in full J-E-T-S force.

I gave up on last season prematurely. I'm not doing the same thing this year despite the growing SoJ mentality.

I think the Jets match up well against the Steelers. Wallace should be neutralized by Revis. Hopefully Miller has some rust and the safeties can keep patching things together. We should shut down Mendenhall given the run defense. In the end, it will, as always, come down to the play of Sanchez. If he's decent, the Jets can find a way. If he's not, well, Polamalu will have a field day.

Jets 0 - Steelers 13. If JETS starting clicking early and the play calling isnt as predictable and is effective, Folk makes a FG, Jets 24 - Steelers 13

    Jets: 16 Steelers: 10

I don't give up after 2 weeks...especially when we had two 3 game losing streaks last year and put it together at the end, under the same regime.

Schotty and Rex just have to be changing up the gameplan, right?

I seriously have this look on my face when thinking about the potential repetitious playcalling from Schotty come Sunday, with a slight hope of change.

Troy has actually been less than average this year. Almost never in the right place at the right time. Not a typical Polumalu year.

That aside ... this idea that these problems have existed all season is just typical Jet pessimism. In our 9 wins we've averaged over 28 points per game ... including 2 wins against Top 10 Defenses ... Miami and Minnesota.
Is that not enough points for you? Do we need to put up 40 for you to be satisfied?

We've played some good games and some bad ones. Even with those horrible offensive performances lately, we still rank #12 in total offense. Do you know where Pittsburgh ranks? --- 19th.

And BTW ... our defense is also ranked dead even with theirs (actually 7 yards fewer). Yeah, they're #1 against the rush ... and we're #3. So why don't you guys explain to me again why I shouldn't expect us to compete this weekend.

Did you not see them go life-and-death against Buffalo and Miami? ... and really should have lost both games.
They're a good team, but they're not Supermen.

you would think but I have a feeling its going to be the same L.T up the middle for 2 yrds, short passes that dont go pass the mark on 3rd down, and the Wildcat with Smith running up the middle for 3. :eek:hmy:

While Polamalu has had a down year, "less then average" is a bit of a stretch. He has had some struggles when he is forced to play in space, so he looks bad when playing some of the better passing offenses. Teams like the Saints and Pats are who the Steelers have had trouble with. But the Jets don't have that kind of passing offense, and right now they desperately need to establish the run. Believe me, Troy is still a force to be reckoned when he can play his aggressive style, and the Jets are a perfect offense for it. You can expect to see him all game long playing around the line of scrimmage, going after Sanchez, and covering LT and Keller on check down routes.

I also think you have misplaced optimism with the offense. Those top 10 defenses they faced were in weeks 3 and 5. That was a long time ago, and since then all of their wins have come against defenses ranked 19th and below, and in every single one of those games you saw this offense struggle for a large portion of it. They haven't been able to be a consistent offense against poor defenses and have looked like a dog shit offense against good defenses.

That being said I think you make a good point when you say the Steelers aren't a great team. They certainly aren't and I do expect the game to be fairly close throughout. They have major issues on the offensive line, which means it's not unreasonable to think the Jets might be able to generate a pass rush and make things pretty tough for Big Ben.

The Steelers won't score a lot of points, but they won't have to. I gotta think Rothlesberger will be able to put up at least 13 points at home, that should be enough.

Big game for Sanchez. He's going to have to beat them through the air.

The way the offensive line has been playing, it's certain Sanchez is going to be throwing the ball 30+ times, but the way the offensive line has been playing, I'm praying he can complete 50% of them.

On a side note this thread is full of fucking haters and trolls.
