Well the Ravens and Saints play at 1. If the Saints win the Ravens would fall even farther behind. Lets hope for a Saints win, so then nothing motivates the Steelers!!!
Agreed, plus they both have 2 easy games after this week. Well if the Browns are considered easy, they both play them and the Steelers have the Panthers, Ravens have Cincy. Cincy did beat the Ravens in their first matchup but I can't see them beating anyone right now.
yeah both should win their last 2 games (or at least be favored), which makes this week critical. Cincy is dead in the water, TO is opening his mouth now and they will just add on to their nice losing streak they have going.
Which would make a Steelers win that much more important. Then a win would essentially lock up the division and at least the #2 seed. A loss to the Jets would keep the Ravens hanging around. Sorry. The Jets are going to have to come up with a big game to win this.
No doubt, I think they can come up big though. The Steelers offense isn't anything to really worry about, and it is time for ours to get back on track. You don't doubt the Jets have it in them do you? Just 2 bad games in a row, no shocking with such a young QB.
I disagree. The Steelers play the Panthers and Browns after us. They know if they lose they will still win it anyway. The Jets on the other hand are in very dangerous territory and are taking this game 100% serious (hopefully)
It's true about the Pittsburgh offense but I trust Rothlesberger and Hines Ward to handle the pressure better and make the big play more then Sanchez. And the dropped passes by the receivers? How many big passes were dropped? I'm just saying that the Steelers will be quite motivated to win regardless. And their offense is better then Miami's and their defense is better then Miami's. It wasn't the Patriots game but the Miami game that was the surprise. Blow-outs like the Patriots game happen but the Jets should have come back and won against Miami. A win is possible against Pittsburgh but the only way for the Jets to get their cred back is to win. Even a well played loss would be something.
And the Ravens play Cleveland and the Bengals. I don't think teams, good teams anyways, think like that. A loss wouldn't be the end of the world but a Ravens loss and Steelers win would lock up the division and at least the #2 seeding.
Again it was a bad week. Just like the almighty Tom had bad week vs us, and Cleveland. Mark is still young, and these things are expected. We've seen him have bad weeks and seen him look like a top 5 QB. You act like this has been the Jets offense all year. We rolled over all our division rivals the first time around. Shit happens
But that Patriots team came back big against the Steelers the next week. He's decent. He looked quite good early on in the season but clearly he still has a lot to learn. Yeah but it's December now. A win against the Steelers would be huge but it's a hell of a team to "get well" against. The Steelers have a lot of reason to keep their foot to the pedal. To be honest I still think the Jets will make the post-season. I think a win against the Bears is very possible, particularly if the Patriots knock out Green Bay.
"So you needed OT to 19 on the Bills but you'll put up 24 on us? Your offense isn't good you realize that? This week the offense comes to play, it really is their time in the cycle, but our defense is also ready too. Since the Steelers will be daring Mark to throw, I see him having another good game and calming all the critics, I mean fans. 27-9 JETS SPECIAL TEAMS HAS A MAGICAL DAY AS WELL!!-MBP" I'm not a Steelers fan. I just see a uncomfortable and recently mistake prone Sanchez heading into a city where the Jets have had some really shitty recent success, in crappy weather, against a stout opportunistic D. I think Dick LeBeau is planning some blitzes and disguises to take advantage, that potentially multiple turnovers will result, and that Pitt will ride their D to some points. I appreciate your confidence, but where do you think that 27 Jets points are going to come from?
I don't disagree with most of what you're saying. The funny thing is ... and this is going to sound crazy ... The offense actually moved well against the best defense we played recently --- Green Bay. If you watched the game it's ridiculous that we didn't score any points. We put up 360 yards, including 250 by Sanchez. We out passed them, out rushed them, and actually won the time of possession. The Green Bay defense isn't really what stopped us in that game. Two INT's inside GB territory that really weren't, a missed chip shot FG, and drops all over the place including an easy TD dropped by Holmes ... probably cost ourselves 20 points. The point I'm making is, we can move the ball against a good defense. So much of it comes down to not killing ourselves with simple execution. If we play the way we did in that GB game or against Miami we can't beat a HS team. But there's a huge difference between not having good players and not playing well. If the first one is your problem, then you're in for some long Sundays. if the second one is your problem it's correctable.
We closed strong last year continuing into the playoffs, Mark played some great football. AGAIN, Mark is a young QB these peaks and valleys were to be expected. Any sane Jet fan knew games like these were coming, just like we knew games where he played great were coming too.
It's not just Sanchez. The WRs let the team down too. And what happened to the running game? I just think there are more reasons to see the Steelers winning this one then the Jets. The Jets might be able to pressure Big Ben Boob but he's tougher and can handle it. Can Sanchez? Not so sure. Moss is a good player but I think Hines Ward is the tougher minded player. We'll know by Monday night. To be honest I think there's a reasonable chance that the Steelers clobber the Jets. The Jets need to man up and play this game tough even if they lose imo.
I can see either team winning ... and you raise an interesting point about the pressure. Sanchez will at times panic, but you have to be concerned about the amount of injuries piling up on Ben should the Jets get some shots on him. It almost seems like duct tape is all that's holding him together.
I'm want to talk about the future, the team had a bad game. Well the offense, it's not the first time. We were shutout at home in a very similar performance against GB, defense played great but receivers dropping balls, poor blocking, the whole thing. In these games no rhythm was established on offense from the playcalling to blocking. IMO our offense will turn it around now, they've been doing this in groups of 3 games, so now it's time for a good three. You don't watch every Jet game, so I don't expect you to have faith like I do. After the way we beat you in week 2 I thought the Pats were done, especially after the Moss trade. Things change week to week in the NFL, and this offense goes as far as Mark takes them. The receivers could've helped by making those catches but they were in a funk too. We'll bounce back, I am sure of it.
Sanchez plays well under pressure, 2 OT wins in a row on the road. (first time in NFL history), then the amazing 4th quarter comeback against the Texans. IN big games he comes up big, these past 2 weeks are the oddity not the norm.
