Actually Namath was drafted in the first round of both the NFL (12th overall by St. Louis) and AFL (5th overall by the Jets) 1965 drafts. Other Hall of Famers drafted that year were Dick Butkus, Gale Sayers, and Fred Biletnikoff. Edit: and just to follow up, I think that pretty clearly makes him the best draft pick in team history.
If Mangold and Brick pan out to be what everyone thinks they can be, whoever is behind center, will have a much easier time...Hopefully we can add some more Olineman/playmakers in the 07' draft. Pennington will not have much success this year and I don't expect him to stay healthy...after that Kellen will be given a chance to take over the franchise. I hope to see Kellen in the last 2-3 games if we have no shot of the playoffs.
Is Clemens any good? I honestly never heard of him until I heard we might be getting him in the draft.
My mistake, I thought that he was drafted by St. Louis but signed with the Jets as a Free Agent. In any case I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Namath > Clemens, no matter how good his intangibles are.
All the legit experts I've seen like him. It's the amaetur, arm-chair GMs that seem to have a problem with him.
Sorry Cakes, but not everybody is still on the Pennington bandwagon... Duckwing it is until Chad proves otherwise.. Besides, it's better than "noodle arm" anyday..
To me Clemens looks most like Matt Hasselbeck. Can scramble, but isn't a scrambler, nice arm, but not the best. Decent size but not too big. Good mind, but makes dumb plays at times, mostly when going for the jugular. Excitable, sometimes too much so. A good QB. A very good Qb. Not a great QB.
