How many times have we discussed this already? I don't understand the level of angst and frustration over this issue. It's clear that Gase doesn't care about the future. It's also common sense that he wouldn't. He's trying to win now to avoid an 0-16 season on his resume. He believes in Gore because Gore is still productive, is reliable, consistent, and can block. With Adams and Johnson it's more hit and miss, at least in Gase's mind. Never mind the fact that he's wrong, and maybe insane for continuing to do things the same way and expecting a different result. At this point, it is what it is, and it's actually working in our favor that Gase is being so stupid. At this point, I want Gase to keep running Gore. That helps ensure that we will lose our remaining games. I don't want to win a game because Johnson or Adams has a career game, and then possibly not even wind up being on the roster next year. They will have plenty of opportunities during mini-camp, OTAs, training camp, and preseason in 2021 to develop and prove themselves. Besides, RBs don't need the development time that other positions do. RB is the easiest position to play in the NFL. Rookies come in, start day one, and play well all the time. This has been discussed ad nauseum already. Yes, in a normal situation, Gore shouldn't be playing, but this isn't a normal situation. The most important thing for the Jets is to lose out, get the #1 pick and take Lawrence and the other players who will be there at the top of each round or give Douglas the ability to trade down for a nice return if he chooses to do so. It's certainly more important than giving what could be just a couple of JAG RBs lots of touches. We all know the Johnsons are clueless. The only reason they fired Williams was because they had to in order to show that they weren't intentionally tanking. They're not going to fire Gase during the season. That should be clear by now. That's just not the way they do things. At this point, I'm glad, because it should help ensure that the Jets get the #1 pick and Lawrence. At this point in this wretched season, that should be the only thing that matters. I'm hoping that Gase continues to run Gore up the gut. Maybe that will cause the players to quit on Gase and ensure we lose our last games. With Mims, Crowder, Perriman, and the two young RBs, if we get anything from our TEs and Sam can avoid making TOs, we could easily wind up winning the game vs NE, and maybe another. Nelson and Adams deserve to play. For that matter, the team deserves to win a game or two since they've kept working hard, fighting, and haven't quit on Gase or each other as so many other teams do. That's a credit to them.
Great evaluation of our current situation. The bold in particular is near and dear to my heart. My absolute biggest fear, where I loose sleep thinking about it, is for the team to go without a win till New England with them out of playoff contention on week 16. New England's intensity will be borderline non existent. Let us hope and pray Jax wins one more game before then.
Pass pro pass pro pass pro. Until there is a player that can run hard up the middle, pass pro and know the play book from top to bottom, good luck any running back getting past Frank. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Frank Gore gives us the best chance to lose...We dont need any young hungry players possibly getting a first down right now.We are 4 losses away from Trevor Lawrence and a new coach.
Also, I'm sure BB would blow the game in a hot minute if he thought it meant keeping Lawrence away from the Jets for 10-15 years.
thats really the lone reason why Gore plays so much. He’s a guy who can give Sam time in pass pro. There was a play where Ty completely missed his assignment and Sam was immediately sacked. After that, they started using Griffin in the backfield to help in pass pro.
Another example of the absolute ineptitude of this coaching staff... "TheJets were trailing Las Vegas by 11 points in the third quarter last Sunday, when running back Ty Johnson turned to offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains on the sidelines. “ ‘Hey, do you think you can call some runs for me?’ ” Loggains recalled the conversation earlier this week. “Just how loose he was, how charismatic he was, you could feel his personality." https://nypost.com/2020/12/11/ty-johnson-turned-brash-suggestion-into-breakout-jets-game/
Every bad coach always hides behind 'but the old guy is better in pass protection and blitz pickups'. Which granted there's probably some truth to, but you have five other linemen and TE's, have them fucking block better.
Gore give the ability to protect same better... But Ty Johnson when given the ball is fun to watch. He has good vision and knows how to setup blocks really well. I'd like to see him run the ball more. There was a game few weeks ago he got maybe 2 carries and he made the most of them, and last week he looked like he belongs on the field. In my mind hes earned playing time and possibly a chance to stay for next year.
I get the Gore hire. JoeD did the right thing AT THAT MOMENT. Bell, who JoeD inherited and Gase never wanted, was our #1 RB but had lost his burst and did not change the outcome of games. Perine, our 'new' JoeD drafted RB, was oft injured and not on the field. Behind Perine were 2 RBs with little known NFL ability, especially picking up pass rushers to protect Sam. JoeD NEEDED a proven commodity behind Sam. Someone guaranteed to get 3-4 yards and more importantly guaranteed to protect Sam. Finding a guaranteed commodity in the middle of the season is not an easy thing to do. I get with the season slipping away, Gase was in no mood to 'experiment' with practice squad RBs. Turns out he should have.
I totally disagree. Belichick isn't afraid of any QB, and he certainly wouldn't be afraid of any QB on the Jets with our track record.
No doubt whatsoever KW. Best scenario. We are one ahead of the Jax going into week 16, and then we blow bye the PAts for our first win and add that stigma to them. Team to loose to the winningless Jets
