Give me someone like McCown over a jerk like Cutler or a flash in the pain like Kaepernick. Adding McCown would mean that the team would likely be putting Petty & Hackenberg on the field, which I'm all for. This is supposed to be a rebuild, correct? Then either don't bring in a veteran or bring in someone who can be a veteran presence/mentor, but doesn't *HAVE* to start. McCown is that type of guy. This won't be Fitz 2.0, if it happens. The likelihood is he'll wind up in Dallas after the Romo dance between Jerry Jones & Bob McNair of the Texans stops & Romo ends up where everyone has known he'd be going since Osweiler was sent to Cleveland. Just hope & pray we aren't left with Cutler. He is no good for a young team and would with our luck win just enough games to make sure a Rosen or Darnold is out of our reach in April 2018.

McCown would be a great veteran presence in the film room and on the practice field. My only concern is how much west coast offense experience does he have. I'm not saying this because I want him to start I just think it would be better for him to teach it if he's not learning it

if they add mcclown he's the opening day starter. They aren't bringing him in to be a backup.

It will infuriate fans because we will want to see the young guys but Bowlesr will play mcclown as long as possible in a futile attempt to keep his job. Petty or Hackenberg wont start any games until like week 13 or 14 meanwhile we will have wasted a year watching mcclown and losing most games 24-17 with mcclown giving us "the best chance to win" with his weekly 1 TD, 2 turnover performances

it will be such a waste of time

So sick of this false narrative that we need a vet QB

For what? To make it harder for Bowles to do the right thing and let the young guys play?

To make sure we win an extra game or two and hurt our potential draft pick next season if the team struggles?

Enough of these washed up garbage QBs...keep Petty and Hack and draft a QB (doesn't have to be 1st round)

Every other position in the NFL, when you've run your course and no longer are capable of playing winning football, you don't have a job anymore and young players with potential take over....Why do all these shitbag QBs continue to hang on? It's not like they do much of anything positive on the field.

The whole veteran presence for the young guys is dumb also...How did Fitz help Geno, Petty, and Hack? How did Brunell help Sanchez?

    Enough

This isn't news, just like us talking to every other FA's agents isn't news. We aren't going to sign a shit tier QB (and that's all that's available at this point).

Jets signing a shit qb (McClown) would be like bringing sand to the beach.

Hopefully we don't sign a veteran QB. Hopefully we do roll into camp with Petty, Hackenberg & a rookie.... but I just don't believe that's going to be the case. Not with a lame-duck HC in his 3rd year who is going to feel like he has to have a decent record this season in order to save his job.

Now if I'm wrong and Woody has promised him 2 years behind the scenes, okay then. You still don't bring in a veteran. You roll with the young kids and see what happens. Maybe, just maybe, we'll be surprised.

If McCown comes in and Hack is right there with him, that doesn't mean McCown is day 1 starter. Bowles and Mac should be smart enough to go with the young guy if the competition is that close.

So we should throw a guy like Petty in who isn't capable of being an NFL starter....If these guys were really capable of being franchise QBs don't you think teams would be trying to trade for them? There are no secrets in the NFL..Neither Petty or Hack will be the answer.Jets fans clamour for shitty backup QBs to play year after year.

Hack was a 2nd round pick last season....2nd round QBs better be ready to atleast compete for the job in year 2. If not, I have serious doubt about the people making the decisions (Mac)

Shitty backup QBs?? What is your answer to the QB problem? I would love to hear it

Why do people want to sign cutler? I dont understand it at all. Mccown is the perfect guy to ride the bench and teach the young guys a thing or 2. If cutler is signed he will be the starter and hack/petty wont play at all then we have this off season all over again.

Am I correct in saying he's never played a full NFL Season?

Perfect hire. McCopter's ceiling is 2 wins we so should have draft pick #1 or #2.

We would waste it on a DL so what's it matter?

Harsh. We'll waste it on an injury-prone CB.

    If that happens then either:
    A) Todd Bowles is an absolute jackass and is actually worse than many of us think
    B) Petty and Hack have absolutely zero future in the NFL
    C) both A & B

So basically if any of those scenarios are the case, the JETS are fuct for a long time
