not a single cutback in the video...i know nothing about mcfadden, but that video showcases his speed, which could help in the nfl, but michael bush hasn't shown shit and many people also wanted him and he hasn't done shit in the nfl.
Ummm, maybe because he has not played 1 down due to injury. I am not a D-mac fan( I would rather the jets take Kevin Smith later) But he is 10 times better then Bush.
like i said, i know nothing about the player, but that video just showcased his speed. in my opinion speed matters, but c-mart was one of the slower running backs in the league and he managed to be one of the better ones.
Ive been trying to figure out a reason why Jet fans are quite so opposed to the prospect of taking DMac... Then I realized that over the past 5 years Jet fans have predicted Mario Williams , Jay Cutler, Vince Young , Adrian Peterson ,Heath Miller , Greg Olsen and Marshawn Lynch would all be a busts. What does that tell me? Blair Thomas, Johnnie Mitchell, Johnnie Lam Jones, Kyle Brady and all the other skill position players we have chosen and have dissapointed, have many frightened at the prospect of taking a risk on any skill position player! Sorry fellas, but eventually you have to take a chance on a franchise guy. Additionally, the "Madden era" has lead people to believe that you draft solely based on need, and that the only rounds that matter are the first 2. How many posts have we seen when a player is signed like "Ok, now we sign Player x, draft player b, trade down and take player c, and we'll be ready to roll"? Sorry people, but that's not how it works. And unless you're selecting first, or are truly one player away from a championship run, don't get your heart set on the Jets taking one specific or a multiple number of players. Building through the draft is done correctly when value is matched w/ need. What that means is, yes you prefer taking a player that fills a hole, but you do not shy away from the big board. You pay your scouting department alot of money, and spend hours on end grading/evaluating talent to form your board. Why would you waste all of that time and resource to NOT take the best player available b/c "we have other needs"? Again, depth, competition and overall roster talent are what create longevity of success in the NFL...and the only way to do that on a year to year basis, is to draft based on value. I can understand if the consensus is that we have bigger needs to fill...but let's face it, at # 6...It's likely either Gholston or Dmac that is the BPA. W/ the moves we have made in FA, unless an option to trade down presents itself(not likely) I believe it's important that we take the BPA. Mike Mayock and the NFL network have done a fantastic job of making their draft board "different" from everyone else's to stand out of the pack. For 3 years now, Mayock has taken a pre draft super star, harped on 2-3 game tapes or weakness, and tore them apart in hopes of driving "his guy" up the draft boards and obviously to create ratings. Don't let his board fool you. Also, DMAC has been in the CF spotlight for so long, you start to notice flaws in his game that may falsely overshadow his on-field performance and true ability. Most scouting dept's are not fooled. NFL teams are salivating over DMac, and if more teams in front of us didn't have stable RB situations, and equally as valuable prospects at other positions staring them in the face, there'd be alot more of a "buzz" surrounding him going much earlier. I doubt I'll be persuading any of the naysayers away from their predetermined thoughts about DMAC...I just hope that if he is selected by us at # 6...people understand why.
Don't get me wrong, if he's there at 6, you know I am going to be excited and want the Jets to pick him. Do I know he will be good? Absolutely not. Like others have said, compared to his hype, Bush has been a bust. I know he's done pretty well, but not what people were predicting. I don't think you can tell who is going to be great and who is going to be good. Here's a couple of names...Brady, Owens, Rice, etc...some of the game's best players were chosen much later in the draft. I don't think the analysts expected them to be all-world. In fact, look at the first round over the past 10 years. You will be amazed at how many of those guys are already out of the game. I'm rambling. Yes, DMac is definitely explosive and the prospect of him in green is tantalizing (for fans, he is probably terrified he will drafted by the Jets, haha). Right now, I think VGo is a better pick, but what do I know? What do you know? What does anyone know? Absolutely nothing.
Best post on here in a long time. The guys who complained about the Harris/Revis drafting should read this and apply it to the 2007 draft.
