Yes, he has a stronger arm, quicker release, and is a more accurate passer. He could've used another year in college to get better at making quick reads, but that's a skill that really needs to be honed in the NFL as well anyway so I don't see him coming out early as that big a deal. What specifically about him makes you think that he won't succeed in the NFL?
I think it's pretty obvious(well at least to me) what Farve is doing. He doesn't want to be a part in any offseason or early training programs. Watch right before the draft he'll announce that he's coming back next year. Then what, get that surgery. After the surgery he'll start saying he has to "rehab it" and will be back in mid July.
Favre is just being a complete tool. These antics may work in green bay, but it doesn't fly with the Jets. Buy the ticket, take the ride, or get the fuck out of the bus station.
So far as I can tell Favre still hasn't said a damn thing. The Jets management hasn't asked for any kind of answer from him, at least publicly. If you want to be angry at someone it seems like it should be Tanny at this point.
It's premature to get antsy about the timing. I am not saying we shouldn't be concerned at some point. But we can't rule out Favre is really taking the time to decide. If I were him I would be, too. There's pros and cons. I don't think it would be an easy decision. I'll say this, though. If he DOES come back, I hope he will have only made that choice after fully convincing himself it is the right one, in terms of his career, how well he can play, and how well he can help the Jets. For me that would be in reverse order of importance. heh.
This board specializes in "getting prematurely antsy" about things. Your points are all sound IMO. It seems like people here are more interested in favre making his decision ASAP for their own purely selfish reasons (so they can have something to either whine or rejoice about on an internet discussion board) than maybe what's in the best interest of the Jets (that Favre uses the extra time to be more certain of whatever his decision will be, up until the point that the Jets have to know which of the two contingencies they have to follow).
