Olsen could line up as a slot WR though

At that size to speed ratio, we could always line up Olsen at the slot. It's been done before with athletic TE's.

As far as Pass Catchers are concerned what are the top 5?
    Johnson
    Meachem
    Bowe
    Olson
    Rice

ok, bare with me for this guys. please?

while it is a possibility that we go corner or tight end in round 1... i dont think it'll happen. I think tangini will go after the BPA as they've stated before and that may end up being a WR or an OL... Meachem and Rice should be on the boards by 25 as well as Blalock. I think slot reciever could be more of an issue that we originally anticipated and they could just confuse us all w/ a WR at 1, OL at 2a, CB at 2b. Its not highly likely, but its a possibility we haven't addressed yet.

Tangini made it CLEAR they want to take BPA regardless of position in RD 1 and the way they've been interviewing people that we know of, they could go for anything at 1, apparantly, Alama-Francis in 2 as well as a corner in 2 and Ben Patrick in 3. We should all brace ourselves for this draft not going as planned.

In a Jets offense? We've seen Sowell, Askew, Baker, etc all lineup wide.

    Yep, that too!

  9. I believe we will go BPA at # 25. The thing is, the BPA will most likely BE a CB or WR at that spot. Revis, Houston and Ross would all be great selections.

Ok, let me elaborate. It is physically possible for him to line up in the slot. Sowell, Askew, Baker have all done it. But none of them do it ALL THE TIME. When looking for a slot reciever we want someone who is committed to doing it 100% of the time and sticking a guy who is an obvious TE there will not do it.

So when I said he can't do it, I didn't mean all the time, obviously. I just meant its not logical to draft him for that need which was suggested and drew my response.

    Cheers.

This isn't misinformation by the Jets, its just the normal reporter talking out of his ass fluff off season piece.

please please please no reciever in round one. NT/DT, OG, TE, CB all should be in front of WR in round one. WR's are a dime a dozen, so why waist a first round pick on one. Unless your getting a WR like the kid from GT, Calvin Johnson (which you only get inside the top 5 to 7), don't draft a WR, especially down in the 20's. A WR drafted in the 20's is as valuable as a WR drafted in the 5th round. Draft the best player available, and if thats a WR, then draft the next BPA. Thats just my thought.

    1) Can you post the article where they made it clear about BPA? I think I missed it, and that is something I would like to read.

    2) Given the misinformation the FO/CS has already provided through the press in one year of management, why would you take their word for it?

Chad cannot make the deep throw and anybody who thinks he can is kidding themselves. On just about every one he attempted last year the receiver had to adjust his pattern and wait for the ball to get to him. It was impossible not to see that.

I'm just glad that we're picking so late in the first round that we don't have any idea who we're getting....

I don't think the original poster meant to draft him as a fulltime 3rd WR. A legitimate receiving TE can line up in the slot, though, and lessen the need for a legitimate #3. Olsen and Brad Smith at TE and 3WR could be just as good as a drafted WR and Baker.

With Pennington still the QB, Olsen is the perfect selection. Unfortunately, he won't be there.

No way we draft WR Rd 1

Tangini can find exceptional talent with the second Rd 2 pick or even the 3rd rd pick. We will get the best CB or fill the right side of the OL with Rd 1 pick.

WR has got to be the biggest bust position out there, and we would not even be looking at getting one of the top 3 forecasted WRs with the 25 pick. The TE Olson will be gone so this won't even be a concern.

Besides, Tangini had Brad Smith who did everything good last year. I think he will be a great WR or at least a GREAT #3 WR which is what his role will be. No need to go WR Rd 1 guys, hate to tell ya but its not all about glamour. THe big Offense piece of the puzzle was Thomas Jones. Throw in a Rd 1 or Rd 2 OL addition and a RD 2 or Rd 3 WR and you have a much better offense.
