Interesting, so they cut their FB to sign Kerley and then they cut a WR they just picked up on waivers to sign Sterling. So they essentially replaced a WR (Stringfellow) with another WR (Kerley) and they replaced a FB (Howsare) with a TE (Sterling). I guess they figure they can use one of their 4 TEs as a fullback. Presumably when ASJ comes back after two games one of their TEs goes (unless one gets injured and ends up on IR). So, they're now carrying 7 WRs (Anderson, Kearse, Kerley, Stewart, Hanson, Peake & Raymond) and 4 TEs (Tomlinson, Leggett, Tye & Sterling)

this team loves TE's who don't block.

what's the point of bringing in this guy? They have Tye and Leggett already, and there is no way he can learn an offense in a couple days.
....unless they like his long term upside. Still i'd rather a blocker to help the QB and run game.

Well ASJ is clearly the #1 guy v but he's out for two games.

Jets must feel leggett isn't ready for big boy snaps so that's why Tye was brought in who has familiarity with the west coast offense since the giants run a variation of the west coast as well.

Sterling is an athletic freak at the TE spot, not much of a blocker neither. They must feel he maybe a nice developmental type guy who got some nice run with the Jags last season.

I think the Jets want to see what they have with Sterling. He also pays ST as well. But right now Tye likely slides in as the #1 in front of Leggett while Tomlinson will act as the extra blocking type TE. It will be curious to see who gets cut once ASJ comes back.

Your right, he was drafted in 15, was waived and then signed to the practice squad. Was moved to the regular roster as a WR in October 15.
Last year he moved to TE. He played in 10 games with 1 start, had 12 catches for 110 yards.
