at least Franks doesn't have "Stone Hands", right Mr.Electric.

good signing by the Jets...hopefully Franks stays healthy.

Franks is damaged goods, coming off knee surgery. He hasn't been that great for years now and was supplanted by Donald Lee. That being said, if he can get healthy, he is purported to be a decent blocker and has always been a Favre safety valve in the red zone. If they signed him for the league minimum, then great. I just hope they have not dumped alot of money into a player that may not even make the team.

Because he's simply a Veteran who can still win games with his conservative style. And quite frankly, he is a MUCH better security blanket than anybody out there(Lefwich?). His salary also is a factor, but I still think the Jets will keep him solely because if Kellen goes down or doesn't do well then they can insert Chad and know the mediocre production they'll get.

If the Jets could of signed a better QB, at a cheaper rate who was smart with the football, Chad would be gone IMO.

I think we're going to keep all of these guys. Tutt has the potential to replace Richardson at fullback once his career is done.

that is what the draft is for. either ryan, brohm, or flacco would be an improvement.

you can't quack and rainbow your way to a title.

History shows that you can't win the title with a rookie QB either. Give Clemens a chance before you throw him under the bus.

A QB at 6 I'd go insane. I wouldn't mind Flacco, but I'm still on the Clemens bandwagon, remember, before his broken ankle, he was 1st round talent.

But even if they DO draft a QB...Chad will still be on the team, for again, the reason that he is a serviceable option behind Center if something happens to Kellen. Every team needs a Vet ready to come in.

i'm not. i expect him to be the starter.

it would be in the team's interest to draft and develop another talent at qb.

can't have too many qbs who can win games.

I'd rather just sign a vet...and maybe draft a QB LATE in the draft. We have too many other needs to go QB higher than the 5th round.

A few guys that I like as late round picks:

John David Booty USC: Booty probably go a lot higher, if he falls to day 2, I wouldn't mind the pick.

(My favorite)Kevin O'Connell SD State: This guy is a Derek Anderson clone. He'll probably be around in the 5th or 6th round.

Josh Johnson San Diego: He's probably the most athletic QB in this draft, and his stock has gone up a lot since the combine, but like Booty, if he falls into the second day he could be a huge steal because of his potential.

Ricky Santos New Hampshire: He reminds me a lot of Kellen Clemens. He's put up great numbers at NH, but the lack of talent is a concern. He has all the tools you look for in an NFL QB though. He'll be there 5th-7th.

Franks adds some good blocking and hands. I remember watching him catch all those rockets from Favre all those years, nice pickup.

Doesn't seem like a lot of money to me.

    Cimini's view:

I like him better when he isn't being negative.

Correct, but look what Pittsburg did a few years ago with Big Ben.

Good move. it's a low risk signing, if he's healthy he can help out and add quality depth and if not we let him go.
