Personally I hope we trade him. He plays with no heart, and that BS he pulled in SD.... celebrating with a live ball on the ground, is unacceptable and shows he doesn't get it.
I think that Sheppard and Strick, minus injuries are certainly good enough CBs. CB depth in the league is pretty shallow to my understanding.
He might be a hell of a player as a hybrid safety/olb pass rusher. Have him play up in the box to stop the run, able to drop back in coverage, and he's big and strong enough to blitz also. Just a thought. We all know Rex likes playing with 3 safeties, so it could work
Lowery isn't a bad corner. if you look back at the game against the colts he was actually covering garcon pretty well, peyton places the ball on the spot that is all. lito and coleman are out. I'd love to see a FA coming over such as Fabian Washington from the Ravens that know allready Ryan's system. I could see us draft a S or CB such as Taylor Mays if he is still on board. I am not sure about this but if Jenkins comes back healthy can we see Pouha on the end in a 3-4 defense??
If anything good has come out of Jenks' injury its that its given Pouha a good innings, and hes taken the opportunity well. Jenks and Pouha will rotate which is great that we don't have to flog the big man until he gets injured again.
Same here but I'd guess that Srickland would return. No one has any idea about Rhodes, although, based on everything I've read along with Rex's cryptic remarks yesterday, I'd say Rhodes is likely gone. Sheppard is definately gone. Those are my guesses two days after the end of the season.
I wouldn't be surprised if we re-signed Lito for a lower price after letting him test the open market. He was generally good when healthy this season, he just couldn't stay healthy. Sure, Manning ate him up, but Manning does that to people - especially when the pass rush is gone. Players like playing in this defense, and it's not like we're going to have a lot to chose from in FA corners.
Sheppard - His time is done. The Jets don't want to pay him $10million and he was benched twice for the Indy game. Strickland - Too many injuries and Lowery is a good replacement at corner. He's just as tough against the screen/run and he does a better job of staying healthy. Rhodes - If he really does not want to be here, I doubt the Jets will force him to stay. Especially not if they can get a good draft pick(s) for him in a draft where we only have 5 picks.
I really guess Rex is'nt playing around and saw what we saw, a weak ass secondary and a #30 jersey that had the name "toast" on the back of it. Revis needs help and "if" we had another top CB opposite of him Payton would have never "gotten off." Rex is going for it now, coaches, players and any "weak link". I trust that what we gain will be far above what we lose. REX MEANS BUSINESS! Imperious Rex!
rhodes sucks as a member of this type of defense. trade his ass to any team willing to give us a high to mid 2nd round pick, considering thats all we will get for him. we should face the music people.....he isnt that talented. he will never see the pro bowl for the rest of his career.
Everyone can conjecture all they want but until we know if this is going to be an uncapped year or not nothing happens. Free Agency goes cold if you have to let someone go to take another.
