sanchez is making good throws, and has been playing with some great awareness. i want the kid throwing the ball 30 times. let him open it up.
I love watching him sling it too and won't have any problem with it if it does happen. I just can't help myself with disputing people that think Schotty is dumb for letting him throw it that much. My plea for a heavy run game was more for my sanity on Monday than anything else.
I agree. The Texans will be without their best coverage linebackers, and I almost feel bad for Kareem Jackson. It seems like Kubiak's giving the kid a trial by fire. I watched a couple of Texans games this year, but it got really bad in the Giants game. Jackson looked completely lost on multiple plays; when Nicks dropped that easy TD, Jackson had no clue what the coverage was. Sanchez has the arm to make him pay with the deep ball. Sanchez should have time to throw the ball. The Texans only have 14 sacks this year, and the only non-DL player to have a sack is the injured Ryans. So either the Texans don't blitz, or their blitz schemes are utter trash.
I love ground and pound football, and 99% of the time it is the way I go with this offense. However, the Texans pass D has been historically bad this year. I would like to give Sanchez a chance to have his way with them early. Then if they get a decent lead going into the half, you come out in the second half running the ball to control the clock... The one thing that reeally grinds my gears is when they are running the ball down the field on a drive and are gaining yards at will, and then they suddenly on 1st and 2nd down pass and end up in a 3rd and 10 situation. If you are running it down their throats, don't throw until they prove they can stop the run.
You're forgetting about Super Mario. The most important matchup that no one seems to be talking about is D'Brickashaw Ferguson vs. Mario Williams. The Texans may only have 14 sacks, but Williams has 6 of those. He's really the only player on their defense we have to worry about.
Very true. I would like to think that because Brick shut down Jared Allen, he should be able to do the same to Williams. However, aside from his last couple of games, Allen has sucked pretty badly this season. And Williams is one of the best pass rushers in football, so nothing should be taken for granted. I think Frank Bush likes to move Mario to RE also, so Woody might have to hold down the fort for a few plays. Tbh, I have little respect for the rest of that DLine, so whichever RB is in on pass plays (presumably LT) should just focus on chipping Super Mario.
When you only have to worry about one player, it's easy to render that guy almost useless. Jags protection sucks so they left a rb in to double him. He disappeared. D'brick will be fine.
Just like many others make the mistake about Allen's play. Teams don't throw the ball when they're winning. Which the Vikings have been getting jumped on quick. Teams don't pass with a 2 score lead unless it's pouring rain, and your name is Schotty.
Well with Allen the other guy Edwards only has 3.5 sacks, all of which came in 2 games so he's not doing a great job of taking advantage of the single teams he's facing
Interestingly enough, last year against the Texans, if Williams switched sides so did Brick. Brick went where Mario went, and shut him out the whole game.
Houston may be dead last in pass defense but the Jets are also 20th in passing, so there is some advantage there but not a whole lot. Against the run Houston is 14th overall, while the Jets are 4th in rushing. So that's the biggest Jets advantage in my opinion. I would think the Jets would run the ball a bit more than pass it, but I guess it depends on how things play out as the game goes along. Houston is also 7th in the league in rushing, while the Jets are 4th against it. So that's a push. They're also 10th in passing with the Jets rated 15th against the pass. Again, nearly a push. So it would seem the Jets would have an easier time moving the ball than Houston, but again it depends on which Jets defense shows up on sunday. Will we get the defense that played against Denver? Will we get the defense that choked against Cleveland and forced us to overtime? If we do the game will be alot closer than anyone thinks right now. The Texans have lost 3 in a row but are only 2 games out of 1st in the division and can get back to 5-5 with a win on sunday. I would think they'll come with their A-game this week. Still I think it's a 24-17 Jets win... Should be fun to watch.
I AM PUMPED FOR SOME JETS FOOTBALL!!! This week has felt longer than the last few. Waiting from game to game. I don't know why. I am pumped though. Lets take down Houston and follow it up by beating Cincy.
Very nice man! I don't think we remember how bad this offense was against the Packers, they were using offensive linemen on the defensive line because they were so banged up, the Jets however did not or could not take advantage of their plight and ended up getting shutout. This game is not a gimme, we are not the Chargers on offense.
The texans defense has allowed at least 24 points every game this year. My concern is Arian Foster. Schaub and Johnson are hurting. I say it a lot, but it is so true: the Jets have to play a smart fundamental game and they'll be fine. Pick: Jets 27, Texans 17
As great as that would be, the NFL don't choose who Sky show of a Sunday afternoon and ALL prime-time games are live in the UK, regardless of who is playing in them.
Houston is not only dead last in passing D, they are the worst passing D ever ... Just saw they stat on NFL network. Washington is 2nd worst all time and the pats are 5th
