leon sucks at punt returning? im not doubting anybody because i cant recall many huge punt returns from leon but i would not say he sucks at punt returns,i thinks thats a stretch.
When it comes to PR duty, Leon is all fair catches and muffed balls. It's a polar opposite from how good he is at KR duty.
I love Leonhard as punt returner. He hasnt muffed one yet, which leon did a couple times last year. Who cares about the return as long as we are maintaining possession
I'm not worried about a guy getting big yards PR. Hold the ball, don't muff it, be smart. Leonhard is doing that. Plus he has a couple of decent returns so far You are way to hasty if you are looking for an electric player back there
I think so, too. It is hard to find fault with how many he fair caught yesterday. I would say the coaches may have said to him, we have spotted them 14 points, don't try and be a hero - no mistakes. The hang time was pretty good. I could not see Leonard going anywhere; the main thing is catch the ball.
He's made some good returns and made some safe decisions. Hasn't negatively affected a game yet, so kudos Jim Leonhard.
Get smart and put Leon back there? Huh? Leon Washington is a great KR. PR? Not so much. He's as good a PR as Justin Miller was one. Eek. I'd rather have Jim back there.
Dont get ahead of yourself, Justin miller was the worst punt returner. he muffed every fucking ball. Leon is a good returner not great but defintely not bad. Leonard is just very safe and thats a good thing, but when he does choose to run he gets some good yards.
To be fair, Leon never had more fair catches than returns in a season. Leonhard's at 6 returns and 9 fair catches so far. It's not a problem he's ever had before, though, so I'm not sure what's going on. All I know is that he's making the most of the returns he chooses to take. And you're dead on with the muffed balls on Leon's part. He's never been a reliable and explosive PR.
He's not that bad. I'd much rather see him call for a fair catch when he could get some yards rather than get stuffed and fumble trying to run it when it's not there.
lol +1 he's been fair catching because he's had people in face almost everytime. when he got the ball with adequate space he's been pretty good. the fact the guy hasnt muffed a punt yet is a big enough plus.
