The groin pull should provide Abraham with plenty of opportunity to sit out the next 4-5 games and think of his career. No need pushing yourself and ruining your next contract.

I'm thinking as talented as he is he is undersized (weight) and injury prone. We'll be fine without his skills. I don't hate him I just hope him the best in Atlanta. BTW Our defense looked really good JMHO

I think you read too much of that Media BS. Abe was much better against the run than his early days.
Also, according to your Logic of injuries Chad Pennington sucks.

I always liked Abraham when he was here, but you have to admit it's typical of him. He shows you how great he can be and then makes you wonder if he's going to suit up for the next game. The only problem I had with him here was that roller coaster always seemed to get to the bottom at playoff time.

At what point do I mention the run? Specifically, I was referring to Abraham's infamous non-pass rush move, where he runs around the defensive tackle until he's 8 yards behind the quarterback, hoping to circle wide enough to get the sack. In one of Abraham's best games, he coverage sacked McNabb twice with this cheesy non-maneuver.

I'm not the only one who believes that part of being a good player is being healthy. Why do you suppose that Lou Gehrig's and Cal Ripken's streaks are so revered? If Pennington should suffer another catastrophic injury, his career, like Terrell Davis', will be remembered as one that "COULD HAVE BEEN great." On a grand scale, his inability to stay healthy has taken him from "the next Joe Montana" to "injury prone Chad Pennington" status nationwide. Whether you believe Chad will rise again or not, most people would prefer an equivalent player who could stay healthy.

I'm glad Abraham is gone. He can take his flash in the pan act elsewhere. Besides, all of his best games were against backups. I won't miss the two "3 consecutive games without a sack" streaks he had last season, and I won't miss the predictable injuries. The guy was only a star when the backup LT was playing. His shining moments in the big spot were few, because he was too busy doing things like drunk driving, and sitting out the playoffs with a cold.

Yeah, but when he gets on the field, he's going to be dominant. Never mind the fact that some scrub will have to take his place for a few games, he's a Pro Bowler.

Falcons | Abraham OUT for Week 2
    Wed, 13 Sep 2006 18:55:42 -0700

Atlanta Falcons DL John Abraham (groin) is out for the Week 2 game and might not return until Week 5. He is listed as questionable on the team's injury report. DL Chauncey Davis will start at left defensive end.

    Sounds like J-Abe to me.

I'm watching the Falcons/Panthers game now and Jay Glazer just did a report on John Abraham. He said Abe said the Jets lied to him? We did??? Is he referring to the fact that he FINALLY played 16 games and we didn't give him a new contract??? Well no wonder we didn't....he's already hurt

    Exactomondo!

I just saw that his brief effort earned him NFC Defensive Player of the Week award. How many weeks of pine does that garner him to ride?
