I think the colts are a better example. Unless of course Brian Hoyer actually is the second best QB in the division
Smith in SF is doing just fine now, with a coach with a clue(his first in NFL). I don't see the 49ers going QB until the mid-rounds. Romo is going nowhere, J.Jones wants to fuck him, I'm pretty sure.
In today's NFL teams can turn things around very quickly. Hell, look at your own team, even within the scope of this season. A few weeks ago after losing to the Ravens and Patriots, there weren't many posters here who were feeling too great about the Jets' chances. Now they're one of the hottest teams in the league and could take sole possession of the division lead with a win on Sunday night. The once-light bandwagon is loaded up again. So, point is, the Patriots are slumping right now but they're not in a rebuilding mode here. Even if this season isn't successful, and I would consider 9-7 with no playoff appearances to be a failure, they can still turn it around before 2012 and make some personnel improvements through the draft and free agency. This isn't the 80s or the pre-cap era where teams were destined to suck for a half decade at a time.
if anything this season is a wakeup call to Bellicheck the Personnel/GM. nobody can question him as a coach. but even he cant polish that huge turd of a defense. and their whole quantity> quality draft strategy has finally blown up in their face. its only magnified by the fact they cant even get Vet castoffs to play above their level anymore to help mask the weaknesses. I just hope hes egotistical enough to think he can overcome it instead of changing his actual strategy.
I don't see them going after a quarterback at all. They drafted Colin Kaepernick in the second round in the past draft.
Belichik has never won anything without Brady. He's going to be rolling him out there in a wheelchair at the end hoping to rekindle the magic somehow. I'm pretty sure that when Brady retires Belichik will join him in a move to an emeritus position up in the owner's box when he wants to be there. On the subject of comebacks I think only one coach in NFL history has won championships with a team and then subsequently won championships with that team or another after the window on the first team closed. That would be Weeb Ewbank. There might be another but I can't think of him offhand. Edit: I'm wrong. Don Shula was the other. Damn those Colts teams were great for awhile there.
1) Luck would fit great in that offense. He has excellent touch and excels with timing routes. He's also used to an offense in which tight ends are heavily utilized. 2) Indianapolis will have the #1 pick. 3) Indianapolis will never, ever, ever let Bill have a franchise QB who fits his offense well if the Colts FO can help it. So, even if Bill awoke from some masturbatory dream in which he envisioned a bright and beautiful future with Andrew Luck, and even if his better sense never kicked in to tell him that he'd be a fucking moron to trade the ultimate QB for his system away, he'd realize that he doesn't stand a chance in hell of getting Luck and STILL wouldn't trade Brady away.
Welker is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season so I dont see him getting traded though I would not be too surprised to see him signing elsewhere
