OK I think this is the deal... SCENARIO 1: WIN-AND-IN UNLESS The Bengals GAIN a relative +9 in strength of victory points against us in the final 2 games. SCENARIO 2: Jets lose to NYG and win @MIA (go 1-1) AND Bengals lose EITHER of the next two games (go 1-1) AND Titans lose EITHER of the next two games (go 1-1) AND Raiders lose EITHER of the next two games (go 1-1)
I don't know, but that #6 will get to travel to Houston and play a team who just got manhandled by Cam Newton and the Panthers.
I think even if Jets get in the playoffs, they could be "one and done" It depends on the matchups. I think they could Houston problems. I think playing Pittsburgh or Baltimore is problematic. My personal hope is that they don't make the playoffs. Ryan promised a Super Bowl and I believe he's going to come up well short of that prediction. I think it's time he and Tannenbaum be held accountable for the personnel flaws on this team. Going in OL and safety was a concern..and now they've been exposed even more. IMO picking Smith over Dwight Lowery was a huge mistake. I know the lockout didn't help, but to be unprepared is unforgivable,
I don't understand not rooting for us to make the playoffs.. We can still make the playoffs and hold people accountable. Look how we went this year for D line in the draft and tried to improve our red zone (moore and plax) even though we made the playoffs this year.
Yeah, if the Jets lose to the Giants and Dolphins, Rex and Tanny still won't get fired. So cheering for the Jets to miss the playoffs makes no sense if you are a fan.
You would think the Jets won today. Like i said,i understand, but can't stand the desperate appeasement that goes on. "we can still getin if world peace is solved,Iran is attacked and wmds are done away with, jupiter and saturns ringgs are tilted at the perfect angle...it all means shit if the stupid jets cant win when its on the line vs a 5-8 team.
They still own the 6th spot and it's theirs to hold on to as of now, i'll take that anyday over needing a bunch of teams for favors and losses. Just fucking win both games will ya??!!! put 2 lousy games together where you play well, that's not asking alot against the giants and dolphins. c'mon jets, just get it the fuck together.
So the Pats didn't deserve to make the playoffs after losing to a 2-5 Cleveland team last year? GTFO. Just make it the Playoff Tournament. That's all that matters. Anything can happen after that. We saw the Steelers and GBP's both go into the playoffs as a 6-seed and win the Superbowl. We saw the Seahawks absolutely manhandle the Saints last playoffs. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN; JUST MAKE THE DAMN TOURNAMENT!
What part of the Giants performance today makes you think they can contend with playoff teams? Each week is seperate. The Giants took the Packers to the brink but have lost twice to the Foreskins.... Make sense of that.
Fair enough, and it the Jets somehow win next week i'm sure i'll forget about todays crap. But after 30 years,i would love to see a dominant jets team.
I'm guessing the Giants are going to be pretty PO'ed going into the game against you guys next week, as they are now behind the Cowboys again. You're gonna have your hands full with them. I didn't see the game today, so I don't know how bad they looked. I was imagining that the Redskins were just feeling their Cheerios after playing the Pats so close week, and you guys paid the price for it.
I care if we win and go out early. I'd rather make the playoffs and go out early then not make the playoffs.
On the same note, we crush the Chiefs and they beat the Packers. Redskins play the Pats tough and beat Giants after we handle them. The Ravens lost to the Jaguars. The Titans to the Colts. The Saints to St Louis. Do none of those teams "deserve" to be since the Jets don't deserve to be by losing to an Eagles team that is better than the Chiefs, Rams, and Jags? Also, many said we did not deserve to make the playoffs last year after losing to the Dolphins.
I can't believe any Jet fan would say something along the lines of "I hope we don't get in, because a) we don't deserve it or b) we would lose anyway." It's the wrong mentality. All you have to do is get in, and anything can happen. The Packers won the SB as a 6 seed last year, and we made back-to-back AFCCGs playing on the road. And besides, getting the 6 seed is especially big this year, because it means you get to face TJ Yates round 1, and that's a game the Jets should definitely win. Then we'd go to PIT or NE, most likely, and we won in both those places last season. Anything can happen.
Word. I'd love a powerhouse team as well, but the consistently dominant teams are who? Pats, Colts (usually), Saints, Packers, Steelers. All of them have what you could call 'elite' QBs. We don't have an 'elite' QB, we have a 'decent' QB. We're gonna have to win football games in the trenches and today we were owned in the trench. Back to the drawing board we go. I definitely think the Jets can beat the Giants next week.
