Ha Ha.. good point. I am definitely out of touch with the East Coast sports scene. Except for what I hear on Around the Horn.
I don't mean this to be disrespectful, but I gotta say that is spoken like someone who has never played sports at a high level. There are definitely no gimmes in the NFL. We're talking the best of the best. Every year the difference between an 11-5 team and a 5-11 is a couple mistakes..a couple bad calls...and a little bad luck.
#1 I grew up in Jersey and I hate the Giants with a passion. I hate Eli I hate Simms I hate Gifford. That being said I hate Boston more. So should the Giants play the Cheats in the SB I'd cheer my ass off for the Giants. The only other teams I'd for the Giants over would be Denver (can't stand Shanahan) and Dallas (no explanation ness). For me the hatred has more to do with jealousy and the Giants fans themselves. I know so many people who even as a kid stuck my nose of the Giants success in 86/87 and 90/91. It's sorta like the Yankees; we know your a great team but you don't need to rub our faces in shit when you win. As for bandwagn fans, I don't know any... although I know many more Giant fans who conviently find time to watch the games when they are very good.
dude, we just collapsed, we were 8-3 and talking about first round byes and superbowls, we plain just got beat by 4 inferior teams on the west coast. Thats inexcusable, who do you want us to blame, you cant fire the whole team, you fire the coaches
"Knowing Jets fans makes me not want to be one." You may not have intentionally meant disrespect but how else is a Jets fan to react to the title of this thread? You're saying that because some Jets fans want more than a 9-7 season and are pissed and vocal about it, you don't "want to be one." Well, fine then, don't freakin' be one, but it ain't gonna change the way I express myself when we play a team ranked 30th in the NFL in total defense and 32nd against the pass and can't move the chains, especially since everything was on the line in this game. Come on now, this is more than just "a couple mistakes..a couple bad calls...and a little bad luck." This was a colossal meltdown in execution and coaching. Yesterday was just simply un-freakin'-forgivable.
