Here is a stat for you: when rex let the coordinators go Sanchez had 16 picks. Since then 4. He had 1 stinker vs Atlanta, but also had 3 zero int games
I understand your point here, but I still tend to agree more with WSW on this one. The thing the stat leaves out is game conditions - it's all well and good to say recent history is one where the Jets have been in a number of games where they were able to win while not passing more than a certain number of times. But one of the things burned into me by my education that I truly value is recognition of the principle that not all correlations show or prove causation. In other words, it is far from clear that sticking to a plan of only throwing a certain number of passes means you will win the game. That does't follow at all. In those games the Jets won, the situation was not one where the D had given up many points early, putting the O down two or more scores when it took the field, particularly in the final 40 minutes of the game (in fact as we all know the D has been criticized for giving up points LATE in the game). The other thing is, if the opponent is placing 9 in the box, and maybe bringing up the other two as well, and are containing the Jets' running game, you HAVE to keep them honest and throw the ball. We all know this, of course. I understand how the stat in question is a powerful one, but on reflection it has limited instructional value. The point is you can't go into the game and say, no matter what, the Jets should not pass more than a certain number of times. That is not the way the game works.
