i tend to agree with this. It will be interesting to see how Ryan creatively adapts schemes to fit our personnel (a skill Mangini lacked).

Gholston and Thomas are both good at rushing the passer, but little else from what I've seen. I think they'll be up at the line, with Pace playing more of a 4-3 SOLB type role, occassionally blitzing.
Hopefully it will be quite a unique D.

they have the link to Cimini's stream but that particular blog entry is buried behind all the draft news.

I heard Mike Pettine on NFL Radio this morning.

He said Gholston was like another pick in this years draft. That he has not missed a meeting all off season and has been personally working with our new DC after hours.

He said you will see VC with his hands on the ground. Providing much of the same role he played in college. Reminds him of Terrel Suggs.

And while we are talking about LB's. He said that Harris is a better match than Ray Lewis next to Scott in the schemes the Jets/Ravens like to use. He is really high on Harris which is good to hear.

He has shown that he is "capable" of playing as a linebacker. He played the Leo position at OSU. He still managed to put pressure on the QB from this position, and stuff the run fairly well. He did look very confused a lot of times at this position though. It usually only really showed in a coverage assignment.

I personally don't buy into the "he needs to go back to a familiar position" campaign, but I don't think it is out of the question either. I think he was over his head last season, he couldn't comprehend Mangini's advanced scheme, and he was playing catch up the entire time, only he never caught up.

I think he would be a completely lost cause with any other coach outside of, Ryan. He may not be educated enough for most advanced systems in this league. At least it would take him longer anywhere else to make an impact, outside of where he is at now. This is a chance of a lifetime for, Gholston.

Gholston is going to turn heads this year. I am expecting 8-12 sacks. Rex Ryan will have him using his natural instincts this year. First thing you will notice will be how fast he gets off the snap and the second thing you will notice will be a mean streak. There will no longer be this over thinking on the field.

    Gholston in 2009 baby!!

The other 4 LBs are all very good. Harris, Pace, Thomas and Scott are going to form an elite LB crew.

I'm excited to see Gholston play this year because there is no way he could play worse than last year.

 true. But I think he has too much speed and quickness off the ball to not succeed if he's put in the right situation. And right now that situation is as a pass rusher.
