Well I certainly wouldn't sign Fitz to anything other than a team friendly deal, but I am not crowning this guy either. We have to constantly keep looking under every rock for a good QB, but at least Fitz holds the fort for us until we do. Its possible Petty is that guy or someone else we hopefully draft. Point being, I am no way putting all my eggs int he Fitzpatrick basket.

The first order of business needs to be a plan at left tackle. whether thats extend/restructure brick, move on form him and go with a free agent replacement/trade replacment, or to draft someone in round 1 to replace him. but to me, you start there.

after that is mo. which i think all hinges on what you do with brick. if you extended brick, i think mo needs to be franchised and traded for help elsewhere: CB, LT, Edge Rusher, QB, etc...

Davis has t go, but henderson could live iwth starting. i think harris has to go. good season, leadership is great, but we cant afford to pay him that kind of money without great produciton in all phases and coverage. we need a new iLB, someone faster and more athletic a sideline to sideline type.

Cro has to go. contract basically dictates that.

Revis, overpaid, but i think you have to keep him, or restructure him. he is too good to lose and i dont see us getting good trade return for him this time around. we really have no choice but to keep him.

milliner needs to go, he should have gone this past offseason

douzable needs to be back, he provides depth, especially if mo is gone. snacks i think you keep him unless he wants to break the bank with pro bowl type money. he had a great year.

fitz... love him, but unless he takes a 2 year deal for reasonable money, ilet him go, im not making the same mistakes the bills made 5 years ago and im not paying for his production

geno has to go. nothing good can happen from him being here. he isnt a starter in the NFL and all he does is block playing time and reps to see what petty can eventually do. you can find someone else for minimum money to hold a clip board.

    quigly needs to go.

we need a dynamic kick returner... look to the late to mid rounds of the draft

Next year is not looking good. Harder schedule, probably the hardest in the NFL, lose Ivory, lose WIlkerson/ Harrison/ Richardson (pick 1 of three) maybe even 2 if they decide to trade Richardson for picks. Have to re-sign Fitzpatrick for 10-12 million which will eat a chunk of cap. This was the year to make a run.

Agree on all. I don't think with the 20th pick they can get a top notch OT, so I'd look for RB or OLB. The RB position hasn't been valued as much in recent drafts so maybe they'll catch a break and Elliott will drop to them. If so I'd grab him.

I guess Brandon Spikes would've done a better job yesterday M I RITE!? JK ...

But seriously, David Harris will stay and he deserves too, he had a great season. We need a side-line to side-line LB with speed that can play alongside Harris and compliment what Harris does best. Harris prob has like 2 or 3 more seasons with us at most.

i dont think we can keep harris at his price tag. he costs to much for a guy who is basically a 2 down player. we can get 2/3 his production at 1/4 the price. with so many other much more important positions to address, i dont think you can have that money invested in him... even those that supported the harris signing had said its ok because in year 2 you can walk away from it

Actually next season is David Harris's last year on this contract. 31 years of age will be making 7.5M, but there's no way they touch his contract right now. You don't want to add more years to it and you don't want to take a hit on the cap.

He's not going anywhere, but what's more important is finding a sideline to sideline LB w/ speed and some decent cover skills. No sense in making more holes.

i think henderson/davis is really not much worse off then harris. but, as we both know im not high on harris. but even if you are, 7.5 M for harris at this point seems excessive. i think you have to walk away from him.

as far as LB, i think its REALLY far down on the list of priorities.

    LT
    Dline contracts
    CB contracts
    Edge Rusher
    QB situation
    other oline issues

then inside linebacker along with running back contracts

Quarterback: Unless we can get Brees for a year or two (which I doubt) the best might be to bring back Fitz and let him compete with Petty. If it's somewhat close you hand the keys to Petty.

Running Back: We have 2 really good backs. However both guys have proven that they can't be counted on. Ivory is a good back but he'll probably go to the highest bidder and I don't think it's worth going into a bidding war with somebody over him. Especially if you're not gonna use him anyway. So let him walk, re-sign Powell and draft a big back in the 3rd round or so.

Wide Receiver: No changes really. Marshall, Decker will be back. Enunwa will be, Devin Smith, Thompkins even. That's 5 guys. Unless I missed somebody. Kerley gets cut.

Tight End: Amaro, Kellen Davis. Maybe draft another TE with receiving skills late.

Offensive Line: Rebuild at Tackle. Cut both starters (Brick & Breno), sign LT Osemele from the Ravens, draft a big RT late and let those younger guys compete there. Harrison, Qvale, whoever. Maybe sign a veteran FA for insurance. Sign another Guard to compete with Winters.

Defensive Line: Re-sign Mo, let Snacks walk, too expensive to keep. Deon Simon can take over in the middle on running downs, or sign a big FA NT.

Linebackers: Let Demario walk, cut Pace' old ass. We badly need a young ILB who can run and hit people. Watched the Chargers play, the Vikings. Kendricks & Perriman are flying around hitting people left and right. Harris is a solid player with a lot of experience but he has no juice left, we badly need a physical presence in the middle who can run and knock guys back. Mauldin has to be the starter outside opposite Richardson. If Richardson moves back to DE sign a 3-4 OLB to go after the QB.

Defensive Backs: Start Revis and Marcus Williams, get rid of Cromartie. Don't want this softy on this defense, he doesn't belong here on a defense that prides itself in being tough and physical. You can't have a wuss like that around. Other than that we're fine here. Gilchrist was solid, should be improved next year. Draft a corner in round 3 or so to groom.

Special Teams: Sign a capable return man for fucks sake. Get rid of April, get rid of that fat midget kicker, get rid of Quigley too. Short: Blow up the unit and start out fresh.

They will make a choice between Wilk and Snacks. They could run the 4 man fronts more to offset the loss of Snacks.

The CB contracts are pretty straightforward. Demario Davis is GONE, will not be resigned and he's no where near as good as David Harris that is insane. No way to walk from Harris. No need to.

Actually, I dont play fantasy football. Agreed it would be ALOT invested in the WR core. But Jeffrey and Marshall have a strong bond, which may interest him in coming here. And wouldn't what he brings to the table be exactly what the Jets wanted to see out of Devin Smith? He's only 25 and would setup the WR position for years.

cut harris, cap hit but still less then 7.5M even when factoring ina cheaper replacement. im fine with davis going. i have no issue with that.

I dont think its as simple as wilk vs snacks. shelly will want money soon. i also expect marshall to be calling for a raise and Fergeson needs to be priority #1 this offseason. i guess if we move on from brick and go with a first round pick replacement that frees money for mo and shelly to stay

Nah, you keep Harris for at least 1 more year. The Jets need linebackers and sure tacklers, I would even look to entertain the thought of getting Danny Trevathan from the Broncos. 25 years of age cover skills; 3 down linebacker also.

Marshall already got a raise, Shelly doesn't have to be even discussed for another season or 2 and plus he needs to be on his best behavior - he could be suspended next season too. Mo should return in some capacity. I expect Snacks to either take a team friendly contract or he's gone.

I've talked to scouts and they say Tanner Purdum actually is one of the better Long Snappers in the league. He has the hands of a cardio vascular surgeon i'm told.

I don't know if you are serious.

But if you are; are steady hands important for long snappers? If so why?

This kind of technical information interests me in case you are wondering.

I *'d him really because of age. He'll only be 27 a week from today.

That said, I wouldn't be the least mad if we cut him.
