Didn't Mangini coach the defensive backfield for the Pats? Maybe that's why our D always has 8 guys in the Defensive backfield. Our D is Mangini's D.

The Pats had a pretty good defense when Mangini was there and their defense got a lot worse in 05 after he left. Plus they won three Superbowls in that time. Obviously it's not exactly cause and effect, but the guy has a respectable coaching record.

The Pats D is BB D as is ours although with a less skilled practitioner running it.

'05 was the year Mangini was the DC for the Pats.

My bad, so it was. So, the Pats D got a lot worse when he became coordinator. Ughh.. forget I ever brought it up.

Champ, you were at the game in 'Frisco, right? And you're not going to work tomorrow are you?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Mangini probably took the Jet job over Belichik's objections because he knew he was going to be exposed eventually as an incompetent DC given the Pats performance before he DC'd and during that year. He had no choice when the Jets came knocking because being a mediocre DC doesn't get you any head coaching jobs. It was now or never for him.

Why would you say that? I was at Sundays game. I flew 1,800 miles to see them play. Do you have any idea how disheartening it was to watch them play Sunday as a NYJ fan dressed in NYJs colors & watch the other side totally destroyed us like they were a heat seeking missle blowing us up time & time again. It sure was not a pleasant experience

Meh, I just didnt think that some guy who joined last March should be talking about putting a bullet in the neck of someone who has been a member here for six years- or anyone for that matter.

champ is champ, you dont have to agree with his shtick, but he is who he is.

And he's been posting here a long time.

I agree with this. If it wasn't for the run on Pats assistants Mangini would have had to wait till at least the age of 40 to make DC. Mangini moved up the ladder because the people ahead of him kept getting better job offers and then he had the luck of being friends with Tannenbaum and got a HC job.
