I honestly have known 2 people who had geniuos IQ's. Whatever the # is to be one I can't remember but the two of them collectively had little to say that was tittalating. Who cares how fancy a guy talks? Go to your mechanic and talk to him about wine. I am on the edge with the draft selections and, to be honest, with this whole situation. But I do know this; Herm was our Uncle Remus(sp) (not a race thing). He told stories. He gave few results. Got us into the play offs 3 out of 5.....blah, blah. NO SUPER BOWL wins. BB has SB wins and Mangini helped a little. I'm a skeptical believer but still a believer.

He is always going to be very boring so gets used to it. As long as he wins he can be as boring as he wants.

Like Mangini or not he should improve his ability to talk. In Todays NFL of media coverage a NFL coach is expected to have some communication skills. Looking at the camera would be a good start. One of the challenges Mangini will need to accomplish this year will be to prove to the media and to the players he is ready for primetime.

I am sure in person he comes off a lot better than he does on TV. But he has a big spectre to overcome in the ghost of Edwards. Edwards was a coach loved and respected and by the Jets players unlike any coach we have ever had. It will be hard for him to follow such a coach in the eyes of the players and the media.

He will need to get and keep the players respect. If things go bad early he may have a very difficult time. When things go bad he will need to improve his communication skills with the media. The media could easily make it very difficult for Magini to coach in NY and keep the players respect. My biggest fear for Magini is that he will be immediatley be stigimatized that he is in over his head. His interviews certainly give and reinforce that impression. Some coaching would help him a lot.

He doesn't have to improve his ability to talk. Belichick is awful when it comes to press conferences. Herm is great. Which one is a HOF coach? As long as Mangini wins, he can sound like Forrest f**king Gump, no one will care.
