I think that was from an old article from when he was playing with the lolphins.

Yep, March 2012, right before the Phins traded him to the Bears

That's quite a list. Kind of hard to outdo. Tone was an asshole but none of this stuff. So you still think it was a great trade. Plus they just offered him a raise. Maybe if he didn't get in trouble for 3 months he gets a bonus. If this guy stays out of trouble for even one season I'd be surprised. The Bears couldn't wait to unload him. Because he was a troublemaker. As for his mental health issues. Did you ever go out with a crazy woman. No matter what they look like they quickly lose their allure.

Since he was diagnosed and started treatment there have been no issues. There have been some NFL and MLB players who did not know they had vision problems and weren't doing too well, they got glasses or contacts and everything improved. Seems like a strange comparison but for one, medical diagnosis and treatment cleared things up on field and for the other it cleared things up off field.

People with bad vision don't go around slugging people. To my way of thinking you're a gutless piece of shit if you beat up on women.

Marshall was putting up big numbers for the bears before being traded to the dolphins for 2 2nd round picks. he put up good numbers for the lolphins (who had no qb) for two years before being traded for a third round pick to the bears. he put up big numbers for the bears for 3 years before being traded to the jets for a 5th round pick.

he's been out of the legal system for a few years now which is good, but his value is still plummeting and no one seems to want to keep him. something isn't right with this guy and he's no spring chicken anymore.

let's see what happens in nyc ... my guess is that this doesn't end well.

Marshall could be heard after games last season screaming and yelling at teammates. They couldn't wait to give him away.

It doesn't surprise me that it went right over your head. Nowhere in my post did I advocate beating women. He has mental issues and is now being treated for them.

Granted it does appear to be something more than just the off field incidents but for a 5th round pick it was worth it to see if he finally has his head in order. I don't think they planned on having him here more than 2 years anyway.

Your analogy was ridiculous. No big surprise.

I'm not carrying his torch, nor am I defending his actions. I seriously doubt that he "likes" to beat women. Be it bi-polar or borderline personality disorder, those would explain (but not excuse) his actions.

I wasn't aware that he had had all those issues, but, since 2011 he has had not problems? If so, that would clearly suggest that they got his medicine adjusted to the proper levels, and should help you see, that this is a medical condition.

So if this was your brother or son, would you still call him "cookoo" or "nutty" or tolerate others calling him by those names?

I agree, if that man doesn't have a diagnosed medical illness. There are legitimate medial issues that explain these types of behaviors. It doesn't exuse them or make them ok, but by the same token, people with these problems cannot control their actions without medications/treatment. If through treatment/medication, people can be helped and they can reclaim a productive role in society that's great. If not, then they should be in a treatment facility where they can't harm the public.

"Cuckoo for cocoa puffs." Is that the psychological diagnosis for what he has?

I'M NO PROFESSIONAL, but from what I can tell, Marshall's condition makes him take certain things… personally. VERY personally. for instance sometimes that means being so passionate about, say, a game he's playing that he shouts at teammates about it, productively like any vocal leader or in a mania with little restraint or helpfulness. lots of things mean A LOT to him, more than most I wager. its only now that he knows why that is that he can at least attempt to keep that passion in a positive place.

So because he take things so personally he feels his relationships very strongly and, after being able to confront his BPD, I wouldn't be surprised if he's learned that going someplace he's especially comfortable with and generally wanted by others is paramount to keeping on the level.

as such I think he's genuine when he says he wanted to come to NY because of Geno, or at least that was one factor among many. a young QB who needs some help on the field that he can form a fresh relationship with? why not? especially since it was made clear that his days in the windy city were numbered. Todd Bowles is a coach he knows and respects, so its a comfortable coaching situation, another factor that lead him here. the jets WANT him here, thats a huge reason to go anywhere in the NFL, pay raise or no. oh and yeah, he's closer to his HBO gig.

seriously the dude made it a point to move in with Geno for crying out loud, he didn't have to do that if he just wanted a quick payday and to be closer to his Inside the NFL job. For a lot of reasons I'm inclined to believe him when he says he came here for whatever reason, if one thing has been made clear over the yeas, its that Brandon Marshall is not one to speak his mind on something he didn't feel strongly about.
